Futility

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tiffania sits in her cabin with a sombre look on her face. She'd just erased that strangers mind and sent him away, despite the fact he seemed to know her name. Her reaction wasn't intentional of course, but this wouldn't be the first time she'd been visited by people who'd intended to harm her.

There had been four instances where people had realised that she was a half-elf and attempted to capture her. She dealt with them easily enough by erasing their memories, but having to do this somewhat regularly left her with a deep fear of what might happen should she actually get captured.

She'd been there and was forced to watch as her mother was murdered, simply because she was an elf. She was a little girl when she watched through the slit of her wardrobe as the King's men relentlessly cut down her mother.

She'd managed to escape with the help of her father, Archduke Othomont's men(Younger brother of King George, Prince Wales father), she'd been sequestered away to this cabin in the woods. She wasn't able to go anywhere due to the risk of her discovery, so she was forced to stay here and wait for Matilda to deliver her food and supplies...

She disliked being trapped here, however, wishing that one day she could leave and freely explore the world without being hunted for her lineage. She knew this was unlikely to ever happen though, the only people she ever actually interacts with besides Matilda are the children from the orphanage that occasionally wander into the forest.

It's fun to play with them, but she knew once they became adults that she'd likely be captured... They would be taught to hate elves, and once they discovered her, they would turn against her like everyone else.

Tiffania shakes her head and begins to idly think about what that recent stranger called Michael had wanted. He didn't seem to be hostile, but her reaction would have undoubtedly made him angry if he ever discovered it.

*Creeeak!*

Tiffania's eyes shoot to the cabin door as she draws her wand, "W-who's there!?" she tentatively asks, scared of whatever mind be outside.

"Hello? I'm here to gift the fairy gifts for looking after the orphanage kids." a male voice asks, causing Tiffania to calm slightly. She takes her wide-brimmed hat and puts it on, making sure to tuck her ears into it. "L-leave it outside... And thank you!" she says, hoping they'd leave... Having someone visit her in the night brought back memories of the night her mother was killed. Needless to say, she was on edge.

"Okay! Thank you, fairy!" the man says as his footsteps audibly leave the outskirts of her cabin.

Tiffania breathes a sigh of relief and puts her wand back between her breasts, but is shocked when many men barrel through her door immediately afterwards. She's able to erase one person's mind but is easily disarmed and bound, her hat pulled away to reveal her long ears.

"Haha! Finally caught you, Elf!"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tiffania is bound and publically dragged through Westwood as the villagers cheered at her expense. These people who she hoped to one day befriend, laughing and jeering at her capture... The only people who looked upset were the children, but they could do nothing but watch as she was thrown into the back of a carriage and taken towards the city of Cendri.

Despite having come to terms with her situation, she couldn't help but feel resentful over the villager's reaction. They knew what was going to happen to her, yet they were happy, despite the fact she'd peaceful lived next to their village for many years!

"Captain? Maybe we should 'play' with the elf before we reach Cendri? Demons don't deserve any mercy." one guard asks, causing Tiffania's eyes to widen in fear.

The captain shakes his head, "Don't you dare. Touching this demon would taint you, I'd soon castrate you then let you corrupt yourself!"

The lustful guardsman pales and nods, "A-alright..." he says before looking at Tiffania, "I wonder if all demons look like this... This one must be a succubi elf or something." he mutters, using his sheathed sword to prod her in the breast.

It doesn't take long for them to reach the town, Tiffania's presence is announced, and people start throwing stones, fruit, and anything else they could get their hands on. Tiffania can only endure it however, she didn't know what'd happen to her, but she knew she probably wouldn't survive.

Why did these people hate her so much though? They'd never met her before, the only reason they had was because she was a half-elf... But was that really the reason? Elves weren't that different compared to humans! Her mother and father loved each other without problems, so why was it such a big deal!?

Tiffania can't help but begin sobbing as rock and fruit hit her, she takes her ring off and clutches it between her hands, knowing that these people would love the opportunity to steal the last thing her mother gave her.

Tears stream from her face as she's strung up to a pole and kindling is gathered beneath her, with people all the while continuing to throw things at her. She cries and begins begging them to let her go when she realises what they intended to do to her.

"Why are you doing this to me!? I did nothing wrong! I just want to be left alone!"

"Shut the fuck up you damned demon!"

"Yeah! Give us back the holy land you scum!"

...

Eventually, once everything is set up, a woman is carried into the town square by a luxurious-looking carriage. She doesn't step out, instead electing to address the townsfolk from the comfort of her vehicle.

Tiffania intently listens to the woman, Earl Tatiana Baschet's speech, and she can only futilely plead her innocence as she lists off a litany of false claims and crimes that Tiffania had 'supposedly' committed.
