Divine Spark

"Emm, is this another Familiar, big bro?" Illococoo asks, gesturing at Riki.

Michael shrugs, "Yeah... His name is Riki... He's a ghost-type Pokemon familiar...-thing." he trails off as Riki palms his face.

"Well, my services are finished here... I hope you don't mind if I take a look around, been a while since I've seen snow..."

Michael snorts, "What, you going to build a snowman or something? Who'd have thought, the scary Stealth Assassin has the heart of a chil-"

*Thud*

"Ouch! Oy! We're not in the book anymore, I can actually die here!" Michael complains as he rubs the back of his head, not explaining his unique ability to respawn.

Riki shrugs, "You'll get over it." he glances at the girls, "Watch this one, he likes to cry a lot." he says before 'poofing' out of existence with a burst of purple smoke, reminiscent of a certain X-Man.

"It's still alive..." Megumin says, catching Michael's attention as she prods the dragon's face with her staff.

"Ah, right. We should probably collect its blood while we can, who knows what uses it'll have." Michael says, retrieving some glass vials and collecting the blood as the dying dragon continues to glare up at him. "Don't look at me like that, you'd have eaten me if this were the other way around... At least this way you count as 'Halal', so rest assured that some Muslim somewhere thinks you are edible."

*Grrrrrrrrrr*

Michael pats its head with his free hand, "Don't worry Old Yeller, it'll all be over soon." he jokes as the dragon's eyes slowly close.

Then, after a couple move seconds, a feeling begins tugging at him... Well, not him, it was more like he was tied to something that was trying to escape.

The girls watch as a dark crimson light encompasses Michael's hand and sinks into the dragon's form...

"Ugh..." Michael groans, feeling as if a hammer had struck him in the head. The roar of a dragon rings out and echoes around in his skull, ramping in his head and forcing him to back away from the corpse for fear of being overwhelmed.

As soon as he lets go the feeling fades away into a niggling sensation at the base of his skull that just sits there...

"Michael, your eyes are gold..." Megumin says, pointing at his now glowing eyes.

Michael crooks a brow at her, "You sure?" he asks, glancing to Illococoo who quickly nods.

"Yeah! It's really weird! More weird than how you usually look!"

...

"Thanks..." he mutters while pulling out the Book of Demigods.

Dragon Soul Shard(Piece of Akatosh)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So it did work... Partially at least. Apparently he wasn't strong enough to steal the entire soul, especially with the heavy feeling still at the base of his skull.

Shaking his head, he puts points in Subsume Soul and Presence of the Dark Lord, afterwards attempting to subsume the Dragon Soul Shard.

A gold glow envelopes Michael immediately after he does this, causing a popping sound to ring out as his body adapts to the sudden influx of energy.

"Ooooh, big bro's eyes are normal..." Illococoo remarks after the light show ends.

Nodding to himself, Michael checks his status to see what changes had occurred.

"Spark of Divinity?... Cool..." he mutters, but notes that he wasn't even close to reaching Rank 1. Judging by his progress, he'd need to kill around two to three thousand dragons... Though, he was sure the low rank of his Subsume Soul had limited his absorption, along with the fact he'd only retrieved a Soul Shard, as opposed to the entire thing...

Still, he wasn't even sure if two thousand dragons even existed, sure in the game you might encounter that many if you grinded for weeks or months, but in reality, shit doesn't respawn... Apart from him obviously.

He looks over to the dragon, if he only stole a portion of its soul, the rest must still be in there... Oh, part of the dragon was degrading, like how it does when in the presence of the true dragon born.

He tries to drain its soul again with Necromastery, only to find nothing inhabiting the body... Either it'd been destroyed by his earlier attempt, or he could only try his hand at stealing a soul once. Annoying but it kind of makes sense. Sort of?

If the dragon soul remained in its body even after being mutilated with pieces cut off of it, then he'd just be able to clone more dragons from the shards. A shame, since an army of immortal dragons sounds pretty neat.

Shaking his head, he looks to the girls while pulling out an ebony dagger, "You guys wanna help dissect this thing? The scales and bones could be used to make some interesting shit."

Megumin instantly rejects him after looking over his bloodied appearance, "No thank you..."

Illococoo gives a similar answer, though, she mostly didn't want to cut up another dragon. Not out of any sort of respect or same-species consideration, but simply because of how difficult it would be...

He sighs, "Fine."
