Fanboy

John-117, the Master Chief allows the magnetized straps on the back of his armour to grip the SRS99-AM sniper rifle, and MA5C assault rifle, electing to utilise a M90 assault shotgun for the time being.

He'd only recently learned of the Halo's true objective, and had managed to sabotage it with Cortana's help... Not that it'd matter much, his Comms were being blocked by the Covenant making it all but impossible to inform Alpha Base of the situation. If matters weren't bad enough, a previously alien organism called the Flood had been freed by the Covenant and was currently tearing apart any resistance it encountered.

John himself had already battled through tens of thousands of the creatures, and even with his abilities, an abundance of weaponry, and highly advanced armour, he'd barely made it out alive. Anyone without an air filter and shield would succumb to the infection in a matter of seconds, as he'd observed numerous times among the Covenant.

"Cortana, our objective?" he quietly asks, aware that anyone or anything could be listening in on his temporary 'hiding place'.

"Saving the universe, through any means necessary. We can't let the monitor activate the Halo, and neither can we let the Flood escape... The only way I can think of is to blow up the Pillar of Autumn's reactor core, but for that, we'd either need Captain Keyes to use his Command Neural Interface or his confirmed death... Wait, the Covenant blocks are down, the Flood is attacking Alpha Base!"

Master Chief gets up to try and go support them, but Cortana's voice cuts off his exit, "No, we need to find Captain Keyes, his vitals are active but he seems to be moving back towards the Covenant Battle-Cruiser!"

"I'm on it." John neutrally reports as he begins making his way back to the Truth and Reconciliation... He'd already rescued Captain Keyes from there once, so what was a second time?

*BAANG!*

*CHCHIK!*

*BBAAANG!*

The Master Chief blows to pieces a number of Flood Infection Forms with his shotgun, slamming his elbow into the chest of an Elite Combat Form, instantly destroying its shield and cutting it in half with the sheer force of his attack. Not to much was required to destroy the fleshy material that comprised most Flood.

He'd been caught up in a battle between the Flood and Covenant and was trying to stay on the outskirts of it, despite the enemy's best efforts otherwise... Was it surprising that the Covenant would rather try and kill him instead of the flesh-eating monsters swarming them?

"Chief, the Captain's vital are dimming, we need to hurry!" Cortana urges and Master Chief just lets out a grunt of acknowledgement, unable to voice it with all the destruction happening around him.

An infected Jackle runs up and tries to bite his knee and explodes when it receives a kick to the face, he kills a dozen more Infection and Combat Forms but pauses in confusion when he's greeted by what looked like a typical UNSC firing-line tactic... The Flood had lined themselves up with a variety of weapons, all aimed at him.

"Oh no, they're learning! Get down Chief!" Cortana shouts in his head, and John listens, ducking under the barrage of gunfire and resting his back against a heavily damaged Ghost.

"We won't make it like this! We need a proper pla-" Cortana starts but Chief interrupts by activating the Ghost and jamming its control handles forwards after breaking its boost button with a punch, causing the vehicle to launch off at quick speeds into the Flood firing line.

*BOOOOOOOM!*

The thing explodes into beautiful blue and purple flames, incinerating the nearby Flood and granting the Super-Soldier a pathway forwards.

"Huh, nice job."

"Do you guys see how fucking cool he is?" Michael asks the duo next to him with a huge grin on his face.

"We both could do that too though..." Saeko mutters, while Master Chief's feats were impressive when compared to regular humans or aliens, to them it was pretty basic stuff.

"Oh yeah? You know how to pilot a self-destructing Ghost into a group of Flood?"

"No, but you do, or could if you touched it once... Actually, couldn't you pilot that entire Battleship?" she asks, remembering the scene of Saito piloting an aircraft with his Gandalfr runes.

...

"I mean, yeah, but that's totally different... Look, he just tore off a Flood's claw and used it to kill four others! How is that not super cool to you two!?"

"Can we do something? Sitting around and watching that guy got boring two hours ago..." Megumin grumbles.

Michael shakes his head, "You two are going home while I clean up this last stretch-"

"I'm immune to diseases remember? Werewolf." Saeko buts in.

"Huh, right..."

"And I can blow everythi-"

"Nope, Saeko and I will deal with this." Michael states.

"We'll see you later Megumin." Saeko smugly offers.

"That's it Chief, the Gravity Lift is still operational!... Wait, what's that?"

Near to the Gravity Lift Flood were streaming into a single area but didn't seem to be doing very well against their enemy. Both thought it might've been a Hunter squad, and so were incredibly surprised when they spotted two seemingly regular, if strangely-dressed, humans battling them.

"Who is that?" Master Chief questions but Cortana had no idea herself.

"No idea, ignore them and reach Keyes, they can handle themselves!"

He nods and uses their distraction, sprinting into the Gravity Lift and boarding the Battleship... Only to land and confusedly look to the side where the two humans now stood... What?

"How're you doing...? Strange to be seeing you here, on this zombie-filled ship... Hey, do you think I could get you to sign this?" the male stutters out while eagerly holding out a blood-soaked assault rifle and an old-fashioned marker pen.
