Nil Proposal
Erwin clears his throat and holds his arm out towards Mikasa, "We of the Survey Corps believe that Mikasa Ackerman could very well be humanity's chance to fight back and reclaim the world from the titans. The speed, strength, and durability her transformation has displayed would not only make the reclamation of Wall Maria possible if properly utilised, but inevitable!
We are very aware of the concerns the Military Police have raised in regards to the potential infectiousness, but believe that with careful monitoring and isolation of Mikasa Ackerman, we could weaponize and manipulate the virus affecting her to create humanity's first super soldiers! Imagine it, if you could! Granting our current strongest soldiers with double or perhaps triple their strength and speed! If we bestowed Levi Ackerman, a distant cousin of the defendant these gifts!?
He slams his palm down on the bannister in front of him to press his point, "Through days of monitoring, Mikasa Ackerman has displayed no hostility towards anyone! Not even those who would perform gruesome experiments upon her without properly requesting permission from higher authorities! She endured this! And understands that such things were necessary not only for her freedom, but for humanity's future as a whole!
The Survey Corps wishes to induct Mikasa Ackerman as an elite member after our studies of her physiology are concluded! This is not the fact of our enemy ladies and gentleman! But the face of a dedicated soldier who has seen sights worse than hell itself in both Shiganshina and Trost! A soldier that will continue to dedicate her life to humanity if allowed the opportunity!" Erwin exclaims, locking eyes with many people before nodding at the judge and sitting down.
"A very compelling proposal Commander Erwin, I have to ask however... Do you believe the Survey Corps could unravel the secrets the Defendant's body holds?"
Erwin stands up again and nods, "We have some of the most talented experts humanity has to offer! If we cannot do it then no one else will stand a chance, especially not those who'd see this opportunity squandered and burned to ashes at the whims of their fears!"
The judge nods and strokes his beard, "Considering must be observed due to how important the result of this trial will be. The Military Police will be given ten minutes to form a rebuttal, we will continue from there." the judge states, standing and going to take his break while everyone else stays behind.
Mikasa herself was just left tied up to observe how things were proceeding and the hall's perception of her... She could hear Eren, Armin, and even Jean try to defend her against their fellow trainees who seem to have been convinced of her crimes and potential threat. Of course, this also meant everyone else who hadn't personally interacted with her thought even worse.
The Garrison all looked fearful of her. The Military Police are like predators about to pounce... And the Survey Corps? Even they were conflicted, some not agreeing with Commander Erwin's words despite having to keep their silence.
She lets out a sigh, well aware that the result of this trial would probably end up with her getting butchered and dissected...
Arguments continue, and soon enough the Judge returns and looks to the Military Police for their response to Erwin's proposal.
They proceed to argue that the potential threat she presents far outweighs any positives. The ability to possibly strengthen their soldiers doesn't match the risk of the full extinction of humanity, nor did the Military Police think it was even possible to do without horrifying live-human experiments, something which was illegal under the King's law.
They present a couple more arguments, some less convincing than others, until they present one that catches Mikasa's attention fully...
"We would seek to isolate all of the trainees that were in contact with the defendant to determine if they are at risk of being infected. Let us not forget the fact that three traitors who possessed the ability to transform into titans were present in that exact same team, along with the fact that the very same people lead to the breach of Wall Maria in the first place!
Who knows how many more secrets are held within the 104th Trainee Corps!? Are there other hidden titans? Are there more like Mikasa Ackerman, bombs waiting to explode at our most vulnerable moments!? How was it that none of the innocent Trainees was able to discover their betrayal!?... It is our belief that these members must be isolated, checked, and observed to determine if they are truly serving humanity's best interests!
Additionally! We wish to capture, interrogate, and perform a full examination upon Trainees Eren Jaeger and Armin Arlert. The reason for this is extensive but can be explained summarily; these two proclaim themselves childhood friends of Mikasa Ackerman, along with 'Good Friends' with the traitors known as Annie Leonhart, Bertolt Hoover, and Reiner Braun!"
"Wait! They have nothing to do with any of this!" Mikasa exclaims, fearful for the lives of her friends.
"You dare ask that of us creature!? Do you think devouring three traitors will grant you leniency despite the threat you present!? NO! WE MUST SECURE THIS OBSTACLE AT EVERY SIDE! LET NOTHING PASS AND SAFEGUARD HUMANITY!" Nile Hawk roars as he glares furiously at Mikasa.
"You bastard!" she angrily responds, unable to hold back her temper, "If I'm so scary to you, do you really think it's intelligent to antagonize me by threatening my friends!? They have nothing to do with any of this! IF YOU WANT TO PUNISH ME, DO IT! BUT I WON'T STAND BY AS YOU BUTCHER MY FAMILY!"
Nile hides his grin at her reaction and jabs an accusatory finger at her, "Aha! The beast shows its true colours! Threatening honourable members of the Military despite her vows! This only lends credence that she and her 'allies' are hiding something! Complicit with one another!"
