"I will like to say goodbye." Alini said, not allowing her surprise to show through her voice.
The Alpha Superior backed away like he had been jerked suddenly out of a spell, then his eyes darkened with a sort of anger before coldness seeped into those dark blue orbs. He nodded curtly.
"20 minutes." He finally said, his voice vibrating with a sort of power, clear and authoritative.
He turned away and headed towards the car.
The formation was dismissed immediately. Each to whatever activities would help them reach the daily quota they were to provide to the werewolves on time.
Alini rushed into her room, the familiar faded blue painted and cold walls, unnaturally oozed out comfort.
Her hands curled up to chest like as if to steady it from racing as fast as it was. Elena had asked her yesterday how she would take it if it had been her and she had answered without thinking that it could actually be her. Why would she had thought so anyways? No one had suspected that the Moon Witch would play this dirty? They should have though, dirty was her nature.
She sat on the long stretched out mat at one corner of the room. So many things had been stuffed under to make it like a bed, soft enough to be slept upon.
She had said she wanted to say goodbye just to get away from him, there had actually not been anyone in particular that she had in mind.
"Alini." Elena busted into the room with tears in her eyes. Alini stood up quickly and before she could even protest, Elena had wrapped her arms around her in a firm hug. "Oh, Alini."
Alini chuckled lightly. At least she had this one person to sincerely say goodbye to. "I think the universe is against me making friends. The first time I make one, they decided to take me away from her," she croaked into her shoulder because Elena was quite taller than she was.
Elena said nothing while Alini patted her back softly. She just didn't know what to say. It would have been her, but it wasn't. It was this friend that she had been greatly connected with just hours ago and she wasn't even angry about it.
"You can thank me out loud, I honestly don't mind hearing it. Forgive me, if it feels like I'm exploiting the situation. Just that, this kind of display of affection rarely comes to me."
In the midst of her tears, Elena found herself giggling. She pressed Alini closer to her, hugging her for the last time. Then, she let her go.
Alini reached forward and wiped away her tears. "Don't be like this."
"I'm so sorry."
Alini chuckled. "Why should you be? You are always apologizing, stop doing that."
"I'm just so..."
"Consider this as a gift." Alini cut her off with a smile. "A wedding gift."
Before Elena could say something in return, Rita busted into the room. "Clock is ticking, you have seven more minutes." She noticed Elena for the first time. "Leave us."
Elena nodded then gave Alini a final wave before she left.
"I shouldn't have trusted that witch!" She muttered angrily under her breath before she started speaking to Alini. "Listen to me, I'm going to run the rules by you quickly." Rita moved closer to her, her forever strict face even stricter.
The rules. They must be the ones that she had been so curious about.
"You are on a mission." She paused slightly like as if to give her time to process the words but the clock was ticking rather quickly and she continued yet again. "The mission is to seduce the Alpha Superior, earn his love and trust, wait for him to try and mate you because that is the time he will be at his most vulnerable. Then kill him before he does." Rita ended, swiping her hand over her shaven head, her eyebrows creased with a sought of frustration. "That is it. It is that simple."
"Alright then, I won't let you down."
Surprise flashed in Rita's eyes. She had expected Alini to look surprised, question the possibility of her mission or even look a little broken that they were sending her off to her likely death. But nothing, she just looked back at her calm and collected-- almost like as if she knew this would happen.
"Is there something else I should know?" Alini glanced at the wall clock that was ticking by quickly.
She still had four minutes.
"Yes." Rita said as her eyes brightened up, "Good thing you spoke up. Our spies are at the Capital, little but they do a good job. We will be communicating through them."
"How do I know them?"
"You just will." Rita was talking faster now, like she had a lot to say but they were running out of time. "We are walking on the dagger that can be used to kill him, it is hard to sneak silver around here. We will have it delivered to you soon."
2 minutes.
"That is all?" Alini asked carefully just to be sure. It will be unfortunate if she has to lose her life as a result of a simple omission?
"Oh yes!" Rita remembered something else, her heart tumbling faster this time. "Make sure you strike him with the dagger before he marks you. That is, kill him with the dagger before he marks you." She paused and sadness shone in her eyes like what she was about to say was something that hit her very being. "If you do it after, your souls would have been connected in such a way that the death of one will result in the death of the other."
Alini gulped.
So, that was it. That was what made following the rules so difficult.
That was why Anna had died.

It was a long drive, a really long one. By the time they got into the Pack Division D, it was already midday. Alini looked out through the car window, watching the largely noticeable difference that slowly made it into sight as they approached the border of Pack Division D. The guards there were numerous, she would have never known they were this much, not even in her wildest dreams.
Their cars drove into the territory of Pack Division D and the change began. It was like the world around her slowly morphed into something...beautiful.
Something she had never seen before.
Or maybe she had and spending so many years in that crumbling part of the division had made her forget what true life was, that is asides the fact that she had also lost a major part of her memory. It felt like she was seeing everything for the first time.
There were people walking along the street with smiles on their faces. The main road was quite scanty but there were beautiful buildings and a long line of shops opened by either sides of the road.
It was busy, lively and the air...oh the air here wasn't polluted. It was clean, really clean.
She sat back in her seat and frowned deeply. So there were so many good things here and these monsters had made them live in that-- that dumpster!
"Should we go straight to the Capital today, Alpha Superior?" Beta Superior Golden, who sat next to the driver, asked when they got to a T-junction.
The car was silent for a while before the Alpha Superior spoke finally. "Yes."
The car swirled and took a path, one that was quieter than the one that they had been on before. Alini turned away from the road to see that the Alpha Superior was already looking at her coldly. She couldn't really tell what he was thinking but his look was hard, like he hated her or something more... something worse.
She looked away, her eyes on the trees that the car was passing by quickly.
She hated him too, hated all of them for what they had done.
Once she gets into the capital, she would ensure to begin her mission immediately. She was certain that with her determination, strong driving emotion that served as a motivation and her sense of duty, her focus would never flatter. She was also certain that seducing him would be easy.
Although, she had never tried to seduce anyone before, it certainly couldn't be that difficult.
Also, there was only one groundbreaking rule of not allowing him to mark her. Only one rule.
That should be easy, every step of the mission should be easy. In fact, the whole mission should be easy!
