Very

"And that was the last thing I remembered before I woke up in here," I tell my hospital room partner.

"You get bullied everyday, that's crazy!" He seems surprised.

"Is that why you wear sweaters, to cover your bruises? Or it's just a coincidence you're wearing one?" He asks, like a detective.

"It is." I say blatantly. I never would have thought I'd be telling a stranger about me, literally everything.

"I didn't get your name," I say to him.

He smiles, "That's because I didn't give it. Well, if you're so interested in me, the name's Chase. And trust me, I like a good chase." He smirks.

Is he flirting with me? I don't even know what it means.

"Hahaha, so funny," I reply awkwardly.

"Yeah, I get that a lot, from the ladies of course. But don't you worry, for the next hours, I'm all yours."

"Wow, you're so full of yourself," I cover my mouth in a rush, is he going to hit me now?

"I'm so sorry, please don't hurt me," I mumble.

"What?! I'd never!" He tries to touch my hands which serves as a shield for my face, I flinch from his touch and scurry farther. He looks surprised and for some reason, hurt.

"I thought we're friends now, I'd never hurt you Char," He says, in a disappointed tone. Here goes the nickname again. He thinks he knows me now just because I couldn't filter my mouth.

"I've never had the experience of what you go through daily but I know it's not a piece of cake, if you want, I can tell you about me. Just don't ever try to run away from me, ever Char!" Woah, put a stop there alpha male.

Well, he starts to tell me all about him, his mother is the owner of this hospital and she's a doctor. Good thing I didn't hide the fact that I got cancer. Anyway, we'll never see eachother again.

I learned Chase's family are pretty loaded, his dad owns a technology company, he has no siblings, just him amd his charm- according to him. From there on, I start to feel really comfortable with him, then, I continued to tell him about my family.

"You mean you caught your father and your sister in bed?!" He whisper-yells.

"I so did!" I reply with every strength I can muster.

"That's messed up!" He declares.

"Yeah, step sister though," I corrected.

"You haven't told me why you're here by the way,"

"That's because you didn't asked. You need to be specific with me Char," I nod.

"I slipped and fell on a box of supplies in our store room, apparently, I sprained my ankle in the process."

"Poor you! How're you now?"

"Good, today makes it the third day I got here, leaving by five. What about you?" He asks, meeting my gaze.

"Soon."

"Wanna grab lunch?"

"Yes please, I thought you'd never ask." He smiles and signals I follow him.

It's been three months since that interesting incident. Chase and I hang out all the time, by now, I know literally everything about him.

Funny, I thought our meeting was a coincidence. But Deepak Chopra said, 'there're no coincidence, synchronicity is all around us.'

The only thing I don't understand is my excitement when I see him, or the way my heart does a series of flips in his presence. Absurd, I know.

My supposed family don't know a thing about me, I lied to them that I joined a study group which requires lots of attention. I literally live at Chase's now, they don't care anyway.

I changed to Chase's mom's hospital and got my surgery done two months ago. She's a good woman, and a great doctor. She's in charge of me now, and I'm starting chemotherapy on monday. Just six days left.

"Hey stud!"

"Chase! O.m.g! You scared me." I shout at him.

"Yeah, I tend to scare the ladies with my charm." He winks at me.

I laugh, "Oh, this never gets old."

"What's up? Called your home, nobody picked. I figured you'd be out here,"

"And you're right,"

"Of course I'm always right, I'm the Chase Smith." He says proudly.

"No more jokes, starting chemo on monday," I tell him.

"Chemo? What's that?"

"You know? Chemotherapy?" I look at him weirdly. Who doesn't know chemo? You're right, the Chase Smith.

"No, I don't." He says, as a matter of fact.

"I'm guessing you don't know radiation therapy either?"

He nods.

"I forgot, I'm the smart one. Chemotherapy is the use of drugs to destroy cancer cells, and in my case, to shrink the tumor while radiation therapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses beams of intense energy to kill cancer cells, high doses of radiation."

"Is it painful?"

"I guess I'll have to find out on monday."
