Find her

Chapter 31: Find her.

Stefan's POV.

"Who said she's not dangerous?. She single handedly killed three well trained men. She's deadly." Wendy kept ranting and ranting..

"The question is..how did she get hold of the crystal?." Dad asked. I almost rolled my eyes at him. "I'd give it to her. I let her escape, dad. She's not a mermaid, why are we hunting her?."

"Shut up, Stefan. Did you know what you did?. You've given the world another reason to fight us. Stefan, your mate's power is rare, and you know the vampires are trailing after her. If they find her, they will use her against us. They will have the upper hand." Wendy yelled along with him.

"Shut up, Wendy. Just shut up." I hollered. I turned and tried to leave the room.

"No need worrying about your mate, young man. You've given her up to the vampires." That sentence stopped me, I turned to look at lady Ursula. She just looked so expressionlessly at me. I could not detect what was going through her mind.

"Just think of what they would do to her in your absence. Stefan, don't act weak now, this is the right time to win her over, the right time to get her back ."

Elena's POV.

A maid asked me what I was going to eat and I replied her with anything available. She bowed and left. I wondered how long they would keep doing that while I'm here, I am no queen.

I stood up and went to open the curtain.

I walked into the balcony. I felt a cool breeze sweep past me. The castle was undoubtedly surrounded by bushes and forests. There were no houses seen and I wondered where in the part of the forest I was.

"Ellie.." I heard Jake call me from the room and I turned. "Holy shit!!." He grumbled. I turned to see what had happened, his face steamed hot like his skin was gonna peel off.

He quickly teleported off to the darker part of the room. The book at the edge of the bed fell off on the floor.

I walked in and closed the curtain.

"I'm sorry." I apologized. "It's fine. Do not open the window while you're here. Majority of us are vampires."

"I was looking out at the balcony. I wanted some air." I told him, still standing beside the bed.

"You've been out in the sunlight before, why aren't you burning then?." I asked, confused. He shrugged, "I had my ring."

I tried to remember the gold ancient ring he wears on his index finger. It was never leaving his finger and I never bothered asking him about it. I mean everyone puts on a ring if not two, but now I know some put them on for a specific purpose.

"I heard you asked the maid to fix anything available." I nodded, he shakes his head.

"I got it. I asked the maid to bring it up here. I don't want what happened yesterday to repeat itself."

"Was he your brother?." I questioned him. "My uncle Jecobi. He's my step mother's brother."

Monalisa wasn't his biological mom. I was loving the idea of knowing more about the vampires, I found myself not scared of any of them either. Vampires, witches, mermaids, which other species are out there that I do not know of?.

Witches were the most confusing among them. They are the ones who were at war with one another. The story about the white witches and dark witches were uncalled for. They've never known peace and I've never met a white witch except for the old witch at my grandparents house.

"Can we talk about us?." He asked and my mind went back to him, sitting on the only couch in the room. He had his long brown hair packed in a ponytail, his pale skin making him more handsome, his eyes were bloodshot as if he hadn't slept for days and I failed to notice that he had the same bright green colored eyes as Mona making me not believe she was actually his step mom.

"Are you listening?."He asked again. I mentally slapped myself for ever finding him attractive and tried to remember what he asked before now.

"Remind me what you asked please." I pleaded and he sighed. He sat up, jamming his hands together, I noticed his tall creepy nails and gulped down. "It was as a result of the pain earlier. It will retract soon." He said while looking at his fingers. I nodded.

"Can we talk about us?." He repeated. "There's no us, Jake."

"I want you. I want us back, I want you back." I shook my head negatively.

"I'm sorry. We can keep on being friends. But not…"

"It's fine if you don't want to." He looked down on himself. "I'll wait for you, but right now you're still healing."

How does he know that I'm trying to heal?. Though I've been feeling much better, something was missing. My soul. It failed to connect to me and it hid at the darkest part of myself. It needed a mate, a soulmate. I crunched my heart at the feeling and fell slacked on the bed.

"Are you okay?." Jake asked me. "I...I'm fine." I stuttered out in pain and layed out.

"You seriously need air. I'll give you what you want, Ellie. I'll have the maids run you a bath and prepare you for shopping, how's that?." My heart leaped with joy and I almost hugged him.

"Thank you Jake. You do not know how much this means to me."

"Anything for you baby girl." I smirked when he called me that. He stood up to leave.

"Jake?." I called and he turned.

"How old are you?" I asked. His eyes raised at me, and he looked amused.

"359 years old." I wasn't shocked to hear that.

"What were you doing in high school?. It's past your age." He cackled.

"You know I've been to so many schools before now. I love living among humans, having myself live among them and do the things they do. I played games with them and no one seemed to find out who I really was until today, you're the first human to find out. I've had lots of girlfriends, and I watch them die, I break up with them when they get too attached to me, I watch them get married, have children and I will probably get their children as a girlfriend when they come of age." I laughed at what he just explained.
