Obtaining information

The meeting with Kara's new subordinates finished quickly.

They had left the Kara's room, leaving ten bags of gold coins on the table. It was the money Kara asked the Mayor and a few that the knights and adventures gave to him. It was nice since Kara did not bring any money with him coming here. But as expected, he had also learned that the currency in used here was not the same as the currency used in the South Continent.

Just like the South Continent, the Main Continent also used gold coins, just that it was called peso. Thus, the gold Kara has from the South itself has worth, but it cannot be used to be exchange to peso.

Since he now had money, Kara gave Chris some money before he leaves for tomorrow, but it seemed like Chris had money all this time.  He thought he only had South Continent gold coins. But somehow, he also has plenty of pesos gold coins. It seemed like he stole it on the trip. After receiving money from Kara, Chris was thankful, though.

And yes, Chris and the knights of the special operations squad, excluding Gary, who was now going to work for Kara, would leave the town tomorrow.

Tonight, outside the town, they would bury the dead holy knights, including holy mage Astrid. They will burn their bodies until only bones and hair were left right before they would bury them. That way, there would be no evidence left that they specifically died in this town.

As for the rogue mage Cannon, he had woke up even hours ago, but he had been put into chains and tied to a rope into the tree in the temporary base of the special operations squad as the knights guarded him.

Another thing that Kara learned from the others was about the kingdom around the Town of Salienc. This small town used to be a village, and it was the furthest from all the communities of this territory. Like he thought, it was an isolated place. Most of the villages and small towns were all considerably near the Castle where the Duke lives.

Then adjacent to the great mountain range that runs South to West was the Kingdom which occupied the territory of the Western part of the Main Continent. That was where the King of the Kingdom live.

The Town of Salience was on the SouthWest—nearer to the South of the Main Continent.

Fortunately, there was no war in this part of the world. Unlike the countries in the South Continent where they were on bad terms with each other and often battle, the countries here did have such a hostile relationship.

But that was not what Kara wanted to know the most.

They had given him a map of the Main Continent for this. Kara sat in the big chair facing the desk in his room. He looked at the leather map.

At the center of the Continent—surrounded by the Three Dukes who rule a province and the Jian Kingdom—was the Williamson Theocracy.

There were many countries serving the Great Gods in the world, but the Williamson Theocracy was one of the few that was a fanatic. They were also a country directly affiliated with the Church, one of the Ten Factions of the world.

Based on what just happened, they knew of the secret of the Forest of the Darn, and they knew of May, who were they calling as the Dark Princess of Silence.

As an affiliate country of the church, the Williamson Theocracy hold tremendous political power standing above the King and they were without doubt going to track May again and obviously the one who ended the life of the Captain of the Sixth Scripture Astrid.

A smile crept on Kara's lips.

"Why are you smiling?" May asked.

"No reason. When I just think of holy knights and mages coming after me, I feel like I'm the hero of a story."

"Oh~ that's a shocker. I thought you feel like that...in some way. Am I wrong?"

"Totally wrong. I don't care about heroes or heroines. I'm just the powerful guy that even heroes or heroines should not mess with unless they want the story to end as tragic."

"Haha," May laughed.

The burial and the cremation of the holy knights, and Astrid, were now being done outside the town. The scorching smell of flesh being burned was floating in the air. That night, a fiery display of flame lighted outside the town.

Kara did not join them. From the town, he instead climbed to the roof of his building and looked at the array of beautiful fire with his crimson eyes.

Just then, with a calm look on his expression, he went down from the roof and landed to the ground like nothing.

"It's time to see how that man is doing," he muttered as he yawned, feeling a little sleepy.

Soon, he arrived at a certain house and then stopped. The house he came in was the building where the rogue mage Cannon imprisoned the townsfolk and the knights using the soul summons of dark purple wolves.

Those four wolves were his now, and he dubbed them as the 'S-Familiars'.

His footsteps echoed against the floor, and then the stairs as he entered the basement, awaking someone in the basement. Next, he stopped and reached the same underground room Cannon had used.

In the middle of the room, as if pinned to the opposite wall by something unseen, was a holy knight!

It only took a moment as the unseen things revealed itself. Four dark purple wolves revealed themselves and stood in a formation to greet their new master.

At this moment, the holy knight weakly opened his bloody eyes and struggled to move his wounded legs as if the bones on it had were broken.

"U--ugh. You de...mon..." the holy knight groaned in pain.

"Now, its time to obtain better information," Kara gazed at the holy knight and muttered coldly.
