A Heart’s Decision

Jay was trotting towards his Father's den, when Brian caught up with him. "Any clue what this meeting is about?" Jay asked him. "None whatsoever. Diamond just said for us three to meet her here." A meeting circle was formed in the King's chambers by him, Jay, Brian, Nala, Diamond, and Crystal. Diamond was first to speak. "Thank you all for coming, we three ladies have something very serious to ask of you all. For some time now we have been discussing it… We would like for you to turn us immortal." Logan let out a little gasp while his sons' faces suddenly became very serious in pondering. Logan looked at Nala with shock but also with great understanding. "What about your other daughter Ruby?" he asked her, seeing as she was absent. She blinked at him lovingly, for him to even think of her daughter one day dying of old age. He had clearly accepted her decision. "She has declined the idea and I have to come to terms with that. One day perhaps when she has more to live for, she will consider it, but I'm following my heart." Brian and Jay locked eyes. "This could be really dangerous," Brian whispered to him. Jay spoke to the group. "We have done blood transfusions with Brian and Father's blood before, but the effects are never permanent. I don't wish for any of you to suffer as I do." "That's not your decision," Crystal spoke stepping forward. "I shan't lose you again, nor do I want to spend an eternity in Heaven without you, having to watch from afar." "None of us do." Diamond replied. "This...life, it changes you," Jay said with regret in his voice. "Drinking the life out of creatures takes a part of your soul away. Sure, having the speed of light sounds fun, but it's a journey, re-finding your emotions, re-discovering a new outlook on your purpose in life. All of that is hard enough to deal with, but then you slowly have to grasp the truth that no matter what happens, no matter the losses you suffer, you will have to endure it for eternity. It hardens your heart and it can sometimes be the hardest thing in the world finding the will to live on and push through. It's a constant internal torment, fighting monstrous internal instincts. If we do this, there's no going back."
