Chapter 6: Date

Zephyr Romeo's POV

"Do you know anyone named Zephyr?"

I didn't expect her to ask me that, but I made sure not to show any reaction.

"Zephyr who?" I asked with a smile.

"It's just… I know someone who looks exactly like you. Actually, every time I see you, he's the first person that comes to mind."

I kept the smile on my lips, making sure she wouldn't notice anything.

"Is he courting you too? Or maybe… you have a crush on him?" I teased, feigning a sad expression.

She blushed instantly, panic flashing in her eyes. I smirked inwardly.

"W-what?! No way!" she stammered, defensive.

"Good. I haven't even started courting you yet, and I already have a rival."

Her cheeks remained flushed. I studied her intently—out of all the women I've met, Trina is the only one who has truly caught my interest. She feels like a challenge I need to win.

Every other woman I've encountered always made the first move, eager to get a taste of me. I never really had to try.

But Trina… she's different. Even after seeing me as Zephyr, she doesn't seem affected. Or maybe she's just really good at hiding her feelings.

"Forget I said anything," she muttered hesitantly.

I simply nodded.

"Trina, I'll head out now. It's almost ten," I told her. She immediately walked me to the door, her mother accompanying her as well.

"Take care, Romeo," she said softly.

I didn't care if her mother was watching—I took Trina's hand, kissed it, then pulled her into a gentle hug.

As I let go, I spoke again.

"Let's meet tomorrow. We don't have classes, so let's go out."

She didn't say anything, just stared at our hands, still blushing.

Trina's POV

"Romeo, come on! Let's go there!" I shouted excitedly, grabbing his hand and dragging him toward the line.

My heart pounded with excitement as I watched the riders scream on the Extreme Tower Ride.

We were at Enchanted Kingdom today—his idea. He let me choose where to go, and of course, I picked this place! It's been years since I last came here. I felt like a child again.

"W-why that ride?" Romeo asked, staring up at the towering structure.

The ride slowly ascended, the passengers seated in a circle. The moment it reached the peak, it plummeted at lightning speed.

I turned to him, noticing how uneasy he looked. I grinned mischievously.

"Don't tell me… you're scared?" I teased.

His face turned red as he avoided my gaze. Adorable.

"O-of course not! I just think it's dangerous. You never know when accidents might happen," he reasoned out.

"This park has been open for years, and there hasn't been a single accident."

"You never know," he muttered.

I watched the ride drop, making my excitement grow. Our turn was next.

"Let's go!" I cheered, pulling him along. He had no choice but to follow.

"Are you sure about this? There's a carousel on the other side," Romeo tried to suggest, fastening his seatbelt.

"Seriously? That's for kids, for Pete's sake!"

I glanced at the park attendant securing our seats. Suddenly, the guy laughed. Romeo glared at him.

"Why are you laughing?" Romeo asked, his voice rising slightly.

"N-nothing, I just—sht!"* He didn't get to finish his sentence.

The ride suddenly started its slow ascent.

"I wanna go home," I heard Romeo mutter under his breath, sounding like a scared child.

As we continued climbing higher, my own nerves kicked in. From here, I could see the entire amusement park, and it was breathtaking.

Then, a sharp ding! rang out.

We dropped.

"TRINAAAA! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, AHHH!" Romeo screamed.

I ignored him, too busy screaming myself.

When the ride finally ended, Romeo stumbled out of his seat, still breathless.

"That was awesome!" he exclaimed.

"Awesome? You almost peed yourself in fear," I laughed.

"I did NOT! But… it does hurt."

"What does?" I raised an eyebrow.

He pointed downward.

I froze, realizing what he meant. My face burned as I smacked his arm.

"Ouch! Why did you do that?!"

My eyes widened at his reaction.

Something about this felt… familiar.

The way he flinched, the way he spoke—exactly the same as someone else.

My heart pounded as memories flashed through my mind.

I didn't even realize I had spoken aloud.

"Zep?"

Romeo stiffened. His eyes widened in shock.

I instinctively took a step back.

"What are you talking about?" His voice changed—his usual charm replaced by something unreadable.

I stared at him, my thoughts racing.

"Romeo, wait!" I called, grabbing his wrist before he could walk away.

"You're with me, but you're thinking about another man?!" His voice was sharp, laced with frustration.

"I thought—"

"You thought Zephyr was with you?!" he snapped. "Do you like him that much? That even when you're with me, you still think about him?!"

"Are you… jealous?" I asked, my lips curling into a teasing smile.

He hesitated before nodding.

I laughed, and after a moment, so did he.

I took a deep breath, really looking at Romeo.

He looked nothing like Zep. So why did I think…?

Maybe I was just overthinking. People can have similar personalities, after all.

I smiled, placing a hand on his.

"I promise, from now on, I'll only focus on you."

Romeo's lips curved into a grin.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

Days passed, and Romeo continued courting me.

And as time went on…

I found myself falling for him.

Now, I was sure.

"Trina, are you okay?" Romeo asked, noticing how quiet I was as we ate at a restaurant.

"Yeah."

"You seem deep in thou—"

"Yes."

He blinked. "Yes…?"

I took a deep breath and looked him in the eye.

"I'm saying yes, Romeo. I'm yours."
