Chapter 8

REBEKAH'S P.O.V

I feel awful about the way I treated Cassy after when Jessica suddenly appeared in the restaurant. There are so many questions in my mind now. Why did she come back? Didn't she clearly say to me two years ago that she needs to end things about us because she wants to relocate to the United States for her chosen career and path? And why did she appear in the restaurant? Maybe she wants to have a break or a vacation?

I am troubled and distressed with her appearance.

Ugh..., Stop overthinking! Just sleep.

"What are you doing?" I asked Jessica

"Shhh. Let us hide here and chill out." Jessica replied nonchalantly

"No! Father will find out, and we will both get into trouble," I argued.

"Jeez! Just chill out for a bit, will you? Why are you adamant about finishing your studies? Your family is rich. Like mine." Jessica retorted with a smirk.

I just rolled my eyes and said, "Fine! If you do not want to finish your studies and become a professional, it is your decision, not mine. Please, do not drag me with your mess. I want to finish my studies to prepare myself for the future, and I want to become a teacher because I love to teach. I do not care about my family's riches. There are not mine. I want to prove to my father that I am capable, to be a successful woman without their riches, even though it is a big help, but I do not want to rely on them." I stand up and start to walk without her to our classroom. It's disappointing that she does not have a plan for her future. She's only relying on her family's wealth. I sighed and shook my head while walking. When I opened the door in our classroom, the teacher was already there. I just said sorry and went to my chair while listening to the boring lecture.

It is boring, but I endure it to learn. The whole afternoon went by smoothly, and then another day came to an end.

It is 4:30 now in the afternoon, and I go to the school's gym for practice when I already hear the force of the ball hitting the hard ground, meaning someone is already there. When I open the double doors, I see Jessica is, practicing with all her glory. Jessica, the volleyball star player at our school. She's sweaty but not tired. It means she just got here. Sensing my presence, she looks in my direction and smiles.

"Hey! You're here already." She said.

"Yeah, I am. Why didn't you go back to the class? You're absent again."

"I do not want to, and Leny called me after you went back to the classroom. She asked me to have a date with her of course, I am her girlfriend, and I want to chill out, so I went with her to our favorite restaurant then to the park. I just arrived from our date, and Leny says, Hi." She said and grinned.

Of course, her girlfriend is a bad influence. Since she met Leny, she's been dispassionate and passive about her future. When I met her when we were kids, Jessica is, my inspiration because she's the opposite of what she is now.

I hope the old Jessica will be back, so we can graduate together and go to college, hopefully still together.

Hey, hey

Hey, hey, hey, hey

Hey, hey, hey, hey

Your lipstick stains

On the front lobe of my left side brains

I knew I wouldn't forget you

And so I went and let you blow my mind

Your sweet moonbeam

The smell of you in every single dream I dream

I knew when we collided

You're the one I had decided who's one of my kind

Hey, soul sister

Ain't that Mr. Mister on the radio, stereo

The way you move ain't fair you know

Hey, soul sister

I don't wanna miss a single thing you do tonight

Ugh..., I usually am a morning person, and I slept early last night. Why is it I still feel so tired right now? And it's exactly 6:30 in the morning. The alarm chimed into my dream.

Oh yeah! My dream! Or a memory that happened 8 years ago, the happiest/dreadful days of my life.

Hey, hey

Hey, hey, hey, hey

Hey, hey, hey, hey

Just in time

I'm so glad you have a one-track mind like me

You gave my life direction

A game show love connection we can't deny

I'm so obsessed

My heart is bound to beat right out of my untrimmed chest

I believe in you, like a virgin you're madonna

And I'm always gonna wanna blow your mind

Ugh. The alarm.

I picked up my phone to switch off the alarm for a peaceful moment and went back to bed to ponder about my dream. It is one of my favorite memories with Jessica. It is also one of the painful memories and, lingering longer about it will affect my mood today.

Cassy and Recy will be coming tonight and, I planned to have a general cleaning and a little bit of rearranging my things for new and good scenery.

I am excited about Cassy coming here. I do not know the reason why, though but, excitement is an understatement. More like exhilarated, despite the effect on me in Jessica's coming back into my life.

Ding!

I grab my phone and see a chat from the devil herself, Jessica.

"Hi, good morning!"

I rolled my eyes and replied, "What's good in the morning?"

"Are you saying that I ruined your morning, or you don't like mornings now? I hope it's not the latter, or either?"

"What do you want?" I just wanted her to go straight to the point and get this over.

"Chill... I want to know, how are you?"

"Jessica, what do you want?!" I want her to know that I am annoyed already.

"Fine. Can we have breakfast together and catch up? I will explain to you everything, and honestly, I want to talk to you about something important."

I hesitantly replied, "Okay. See you in an hour", then slowly crawled from the warmth of my bed to the bathroom and started my day with a bath."

After preparing myself and finishing my morning routine, I read Jessica's reply to my text earlier that said, "I will be waiting at Gorio's Cafe. See you!"

I go to the garage and choose to use my car, Cassy's favorite. After the meeting with Jessica, I will go directly to Recy's house to pick Cassy and Recy up going to mine.

I parked the car in the parking space of the diner and saw Jessica sitting at the center table, busy on her phone, maybe texting or playing. It is more like her.

I got out of my car, opened the cafe's door, and leisurely paced towards her. She noticed my presence and looked up, smiled widely, and said, "Glad you came. I thought of you ditching me."

I ignored her comment, comfortably sat across her, and looked at the menu.

I look up to her and see her pouting.

I then raise my eyebrow and wait for her to speak.

"I see you are still upset about what happened last three years ago." She said after a moment of silence.

"Yeah, because you just broke up with me through text and didn't confront me. I was broken-hearted Jessica, how dare you? How dare you do that to me? I deserve an explanation and closure. Do not expect me to be okay for all you did and act as nothing happened." I sigh heavily and compose myself.

She stares at me, maybe trying to form the right words and waiting for me to come down.
