Kayola is led from the dungeon by a soldier into the servants’ quarters. She is asked to clean herself up, and that this will be her new home. She is really surprised, as she was actually expecting to be tied to a pole and beaten or something like that. The soldier leaves and she stands outside the little cottage, unsure of what to do and where to go.

She is still in her confused state when a young woman, most likely of the same age as her, walks up to her and smiles. Kayola returns the smile and she is led into the waters. She looks around and sees that to her left and right, there are small rooms with beds. Each room has two beds, and it is occupied by two slaves. She keeps following her guide until the latter stops at the far end of the house.
