Looking up from the book her father had given her earlier that morning, Sonya found her husband standing over her wearing an expression that clearly said he was up to something.
“I’ve been looking for you,” he told her with a schoolboy-like excitement.
“Rufus and Rockwell were keeping me company until you came back,” she told him, wiggling her toes in the cool lake water as her two companions swam around her feet.
“I told you they would grow on you.” He smiled at her, and she melted. Her heart doing a little dance in her chest as it always did when he was around. “Here”, he extended his hand to her, “come with me.”
“What are you up to?” she asked, raising a brow as she placed her hand in his.
