When we got back to the clubhouse Reese was gone, I felt a hint of guilt knowing he left because of my overreaction. However I did send a message that nobody was safe from my wrath. It was factual. Joey and I didn't say much as told everyone we had a lead, that we would follow now. There had been questions, but I had killed them all. I told them I'd call when I knew for sure.
We arrived at thirty nine o one, thirty ninth street at midnight. It was dark, like most streets on the dark side. It was tradition to shoot out the street lights here. It had been happening for years. Eventually the city stopped replacing the street lights. It may have saved them money, but it made this area a beacon for criminals. Which made me wonder why the unknown voice over the phone had wanted me to come here.
