“Yes I am,” Gemma said.
“How many years of working experience do you have working with children?”
“Thirty years.”
“Do you have children of your own?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“My husband died thirty-five years ago.”
“Why didn’t you look for another husband?”
“Didn’t think there was anyone else out there for me,” Gemma said.
“There are second chances for everyone,” Anna said, believing that there would always be someone out there and if God takes them away, it’s because there is someone else better.
“I don’t know, I never looked to see if there was one,” Gemma told Anna with a smile.
“If you are given the matron position, what are some of the things you would do?” Lee asked this question.
