Old Enemies

“Lieutenant!” The soldier saluted as Stephan stormed inside the motor pool, a ferocious expression on his face. Stephan jumped inside his jeep and extended his hand out.

“The keys!”

Stephan wasn’t in a good mood. The soldier could see that. Scared he might get caught in the crossfire, he threw the keys into his hand.

Instead of landing on his palm, the key fell inside and dropped near his feet.

“Moron!” Stephan cursed. “All of these bastards are good for nothing.” Still cursing under his teeth, he picked up the key and started the jeep.

“I should have followed right after that old man.”

The guards at the entrance immediately lifted the barricade to let Stephan’s vehicle through. Stephan was feeling a little tipsy after the party, so the cool night breeze helped him clear his head.

He arrived at the cross-section within 5 minutes.
