“You?” Aldrevon raised his brows at the Vice-General who had entered the room. “Where is Stephan?”
The Vice-General stiffened. A bead of sweat slid down the side of his temple.
“My Lord...” he began, “Lieutenant Stephan... has been missing since last night.”
“Lieutenant Stephan is missing?” Aldrevon asked, eyes wide, as if he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
The Vice General lowered his head and gave a stiff nod. “The other teams lost contact with him shortly before sunrise.”
Team Badagar couldn’t reach him, so they contacted the base headquarters about his disappearance. When he heard the news, he rushed straight towards Aldrevon’s chamber.
“What are the chances?” Aldrevon asked, tightening the robe around his waist.
“He’s either out of communication range,” the Vice General said, “or, in the worst-case scenario,” he paused. “Lieutenant Stephan is dead.”
