Just One More

Qom's defeated corpse slumped to my side, falling into the grass. I did the same, dropping backwards into the bright-green bed, my body comforted by the cold field, I stayed there waiting for the abyss.

I walked over to the lifeless body, his charred form still lying down, but the world hadn't disappeared. I unsheathe my knife swinging down into the flesh. But my knife bounced off. His weapon resistance is off the charts, of course I can't kill him with a knife, but I still don't have any mana, do I keep hacking at him with my knife? There are only a few seconds on the clock, if I wait, can I fight that thing. I really want to. I sat back down eagerly awaiting the arrival. The clock counted down slowly, the chiming and ticking ringing through my head as I waited for out like a child on Christmas and then, the clock went red. A jolt of happiness shot through my body, dancing through my spine and forcing me to my feet.

The calamity was amazing, the power was phenomenal. Just the first step shook the map, burning everything. The monstrous foot was towering over me, its colossal form towering above me. The jagged but perfect armor clawing closely to its body. I have no chance, no hope but that only makes me more driven, more excited.

Jumping into the air the ground disappeared beneath me. I landed on its arm running up the black steel, but it smashed its other hand into me with blinding speed, I managed to turn into lightning narrowly escaping the blow. I jumped into the sky, my mana slowly regenerating the blue bar inching closer to full. Dashing forward in a sudden jolt my hands grappled onto the back of the monster, it struggled and flailed trying to get me off, but I gripped tightly to the long straight sheath slung across its back. The dark leather holds in a colossal blade, the power being held back. This is the power of something ten times my level. Even in the face of this hopelessness, I'm still so excited, so happy. This ringing electricity burns through my skin, hoping through every cell in my body. I leapt up his body like a persistent insect buzzing around its monstrous form, toying with a giant that holds all my strength in one of its eyelashes.

It's hopeless yet so so so much fun!!!!

The sky exploded with a bright blue burst, my body exploded with pain, like billions of knives stabbing into every single cell in my body. I flung my hands out spreading my fingers wide, and then the world exploded, the entire sky burning with an intense and beautiful heat, burning the ground setting the meadows ablaze and smashing into the monster. The giant looked up and swiftly grabbed his sword slicing through the bolt of lightning.

In that second, that instant. Everything was silent, everything was so bright, the burning bolt of lightning slamming into the ground like a hammer. Abominable dark titan standing in front of me, something so powerful, something so awesome, at my mercy, caving under the power of my magic. With the blue bolts and the burning red flickering across my blue eyes a giant grin started to etch across my face. Its sword cracked, At that moment as the indomitable attack struck the level one thousand monster it cracked. My attack ran out, slicing through the blade and hitting the ground.

"I should be honored that you struggled to fight me right?"

Qom stood up his paralysis wearing off,

"You want round two?"

"Hardly a fair fight, you're practically dead."

"Wow pity from the number two player."

"That's cold I thought we were friends,"

"Haha as an apology I'll kill this thing, and we can have a rematch."

"You got another of those lightning bolts up your sleeve?"

"I have something alright."

Whilst the world was burning for me everything was black, all I could see was two blue dots, contracting and flexing, the piercing blue running through my eye for the first time in three weeks.

I clenched my fist the fingers curling and turning white with pressure

The dark light behind me swelled and formed into a huge lance, towering behind me and consuming the last of my mana the world seemed to swell in the abyss in front of me, I couldn't see, but I could tell, I was staring into the eyes of the monster, his immense power pushing down on my body as I hung gently in the air. I charged forward, my fist driving for the target, the blue bullseye in front of me. And then, I connected my fist driving into his dark steel plating and my spear left me. Flying forwards along with my arm, driving into the monster's chest impaling his body. The stress it put on my body was phenomenal, the pain from all my battles seemed to pile onto me, everything burned and collapsed into my muscles, I screamed and shouted as I pushed forward. The blue in front taunting and teasing me I could almost reach out and touch it, so close. Just one more push, one more inch MORE MORE MORE!!!!!

The pain piled up, I was almost to my breaking point, the pressure was crushing my lungs and making my vision blur, but I can't give up, I'm so close…

And then it was gone. Everything disappeared, all the pain, all the stress, everything disappeared as the heart in front of me lost its color.

It felt so good, the rush of victory rushing over my body, the pain disappearing with the joy and sense of completion, I dropped to the ground, my feet touching the burnt soil, the charred ground welcoming my tired body.

"I resign." Qom's words sounded above me,

'The winner is - "ItsAssassin" - congratulations'

"Why? You could've won pretty easily."

"Yeah but you killed a level one thousand giant, there's no way I deserve to beat you… yet. Plus you'd do the same for me."

"Hah, see ya."

"Yeah… guild master."

The ground faded along with the corpse and my world reverted to the abyss.
