Chapter 5: What Do You Mean Medical Checkup!?

"Eh? What... do you mean?" Aki asked as she took a step back and raised her arms defensively.

"We need to figure out how old your body is so we can get you into the right school year, Aki-chan." Nozomi said.

"No-no, before that!" Aki exclaimed as she took another step back.

"It's just a physical checkup and a few x-rays so that we can get an idea of your physical age." Nozomi said.

"I-I-I c-can't!" Aki yelled.

"But why not?" Nozomi asked.

"I can barely look at myself without a shirt! There's no way I can do a physical!" Aki said as she glanced at her chest.

"Hmm, what if I'm there with you? That way you can keep your eyes closed, right?" Nozomi suggested.

"W-well... That may work..." Aki said as she calmed down a bit. "I still don't know though..." Aki said as she fidgeted a bit.

"It'll be fine, besides, you'll have to get used to certain things once you're in school." Nozomi said.

"That's... True..." Aki said as she sat on her bed. "I guess I can try to do it myself... I'll have to be able to change when I get into school, given p.e. uniforms and all..." Aki thought aloud. She groaned as she laid down, her feet still hanging off the side of the bed.

"See? It'll be helpful." Nozomi said as she walked over to Aki's bed and sat beside her. "Also, you've already been like this for two weeks, you need to get used to your body, or you'll never do it." Nozomi added.

"Yeah, that's fair..." Aki said.

"Alright, well, let's get ready then!" Nozomi said as she put her hands together.

"What!? Now!?" Aki asked as she sat up suddenly.

"Of course." She said with a smile. Aki groaned.

"Fine..." She said. 'Fucking trickster.' Aki thought.

After some time, they arrived at a private office building. "This doesn't look like a doctor's office..." Aki said as they walked toward the building.

"No need to worry, they work for the government, we're going to this one because of your special condition!" Nozomi said with the same light expression she always has as they entered the building. They navigated to the room they were told to go to.

"Ah, Nozomi, I was just briefed on the situation. To think that energy could even change a person's sex, rather intriguing." The doctor said as he welcomed them into the room.

"That aside, can we get this done with?" Aki asked.

"Right, we'll be taking some x-rays. Before we take them, if you have anything with metal, you'll need to take it off to make sure we can get accurate images of your bone structure, and since we'll be doing full-body x-rays, anything that can be considered a thick material, denim included, will need to be taken off." "It seems that most of your clothes will need to be taken off." Nozomi said as Aki looked at her clothes.

"Metal buttons, jeans... At least I can keep the underwear..." Aki mumbled to herself.

"If you'd prefer, you can undress behind the curtain, your x-rays will be taken there, but we'll also be checking your development to check the stage of puberty you're in, this is mostly to check if you're likely to have your period soon." The doctor added.

'R-right..." Aki said uncomfortably. Hesitantly, she took off her shirt and pants, leaving her in only panties.

"Why aren't you wearing a bra?" Nozomi asked. Aki blushed.

"It feels wrong enough to wear panties! Plus..." Aki paused as she blushed.

"What is it?" Nozomi asked.

"They're all too big..." She said sheepishly.

"I see, we'll have to get you some that fit later, then." Nozomi said.

"Anyway, please step behind the curtain." The doctor said. Aki handed her clothes to Nozomi, then went behind the curtain.

"Face toward the wall." He said. Aki did as she was told. "Now face toward the curtain." He directed. She did so. After a few more directions, the x-rays were finished and she was instructed to come out for the physical examination portion.

'I'm not excited about this part.' She thought to herself.

"I'll be taking some measurements." He said as he grabbed a fabric tape measure. After a few moments of taking measurements, he spoke again. "Alright, you can get dressed, we just need to get your weight and height." He said. Aki nodded and got dressed immediately.

'Safe.' She thought with a relieved expression as she buttoned the last button of her shirt.

"Alright, just stand on this scale, it'll weigh you and I can take your height measurements." The doctor said. "Oh, and make sure to stand as straight as you can." He added. Aki nodded and stepped onto the scale, her back toward the wall, where the measuring tool is.

She straightened her back as much as she could and the doctor checked her height. 'I wonder how tall I am, I mean, I feel rather short, even for a middle schooler.' She thought.

"Alright, you're just about 127cm (4'2)." The doctor said.

'I'm short!' She thought to herself gloomily.

"And your weight is..." He said as he checked the scale. "About 30.4kg (67lbs)." He said. "Alright, that was the last thing needed here, I'll be sending the results in the mail." He said as he wrote some things on a piece of paper.

"Thank you, doctor." Nozomi said. He nodded.

'Yes! Now we can leave!' Aki thought to herself. After a few moments, they left the building.

"See? It wasn't hard, right?" Nozomi asked.

"It felt like my heart was gonna burst out my chest!" Aki yelled as she crossed her arms.

"Ara, Ara~, really?" Nozomi asked. Aki nodded.

"It just feels wrong and it makes me nervous." Aki said as she relaxed her posture a bit.

"I see." Nozomi said.
