CHAPTER 2 : The Investigation Continues - Amelia Watson

"Bubba! Stop running around! You'll make everything a mess again even though I'm done cleaning the house!"

I shouted to my pet, Bubba, as he was running around the house. Somehow, after I finished cleaning the house, he got up and started to run around me. And when I sat on the couch, he left my side and started to run around the house.

'Is this the first time he's seen me clean the entire house?', I thought to myself.

Then all of a sudden as I opened my phone while sitting on the couch, I heard something break on the kitchen counter.

*BOOVE!*, is what the sound made.

"BUBBA! NOW YOU'VE DONE IT!", I shouted at him as I got up from the couch and approach the kitchen counter.

It turns out that he broke a cabinet as he was running around, and slipped on the part where the floor was still wet. Honestly, this dog needs to calm down...

"Look what you've done...", I said to Bubba as Bubba suddenly behaved himself.

I touched the broken cabinet and the part that broke was at bottom left part of it.

"Now we gotta get this thing fixed..."

I looked at Bubba, and he suddenly started to make some sad noises so that I can give him mercy.

I didn't want to get baited but...

"Aagghh! You're lucky you're too cute.", I said as I stroke his bottom chin.

After doing that, he started to run around again. But it wasn't as noisy or as energetic as earlier, so I guess he figured out that he needs to limit things.

'What a smart dog.', I thought to myself.

I decided to fix the cabinet myself later since it's not really that big of a deal.

I went back to the couch and saw Bubba already sitting beside my phone.

I sat down and checked my phone for notifications and news..

It's my day off today but even though it's my day off, I still want to investigate about that case.

Jhon already decided that he'll help me, but he also told me that he also has other cases to take care of.

"I guess I can't really do anything about that.", I muttered to myself.

I continued to check my phone but there's nothing really much to check since I already caught up on the news by the time I woke up.

And I wanted to investigate about that case but my laziness keeps on attacking me. It's like saying,"Don't work today. Just sleep."

"Why are every day offs like this....."

I wasn't exactly lazy after waking up since I was able to clean the entire house. But like I said, it suddenly attacked out of nowhere.

"Guess I'll just sleep."

I stood up and went to my bed then suddenly my phone started to make a sound.

*TING!*

It sounded like I received a message since it was only a second of a sound. If it was a call, it would've rang for about 10 seconds.

I picked up my phone and saw a notification from Jhon. And it said...

'Ms. Watson. I know you're on your day off right now but, can I use your whiteboard?'

He wants to use my whiteboard? But that's the whiteboard where I had my progress listed about my current investigation!

I replied that, "Why not buy your own whiteboard?".

After sending it, I immediately got a reply after 5 seconds.

'Please, Ms. Watson. I really need to use it.. Don't worry, I'll put everything back to how it was after I use it.'

I can't really trust his words.. But then again, it is his career that's at stake here. So I have no choice..

I replied, "Alright, just put everything back to how it was after using it okay? And don't let anyone see about that case."

After sending that reply, I received another message from him.

'Okay, Ms. Watson. I'll make sure to not let anyone see this. Thank you!'

After that, I stopped sending him another reply since it's already obvious that I read it.

But wow, he's really taking his job seriously now huh? Unlike before where he was using a persona to act all smart. He's actually using his current skills now to press forward. I like that.

And also, if my junior is working really hard right now. I should do the same as well.

I threw my phone on my bed and opened my computer. Then I started to search more about my current case, which is about, "Mythical creatures".

Although some sightings that I've seen on the internet are mostly fake, there are books/articles that I've read that somehow makes sense. But it doesn't really give the right information that I needed about that person.

Even though the lists of progress about my current case are on my office. I also reserved one on my computer, just in case.

I opened up the file and there listed a lot of files and pictures.

I opened up the main one that had a picture of a cctv footage about that incident. Although the picture wasn't clear, it was still enough to show the person that stopped the Tsunami.

But with only this, I can't press forward on my investigation. I need a hint, a clue, something that can strike my braincells to function and a logic that makes sense. I need at least something...

After wracking my brain up, I couldn't come to a conclusion nor could I come up with something from the internet..

"Damn it....", I said as I stretched myself while sitting.

'There's really nothing huh...', I thought to myself.

Most of the articles on the internet are either false rumors or lack of evidence. There's no solid statement..

"I guess I have no choice but to go to the library..", I muttered to myself.

There's really nothing much I can get from the internet. So maybe, there's something in the library that might connect to the case.

And unlike in the internet, libraries can never be edited and the information over there are either solid statement or it has a strong theory that only needs a small piece of evidence to make it a solid statement.

It can't be edited too since it's printed on paper. Which makes it perfect.

And the reason why I haven't been to one yet is because, I'm lazy.

But that laziness already disappeared so I got up from my computer after shutting it down and wore some clothes.

After wearing some attire, I told Bubba that I'll be heading somewhere and gave him a kiss goodbye.

I don't know when I'll return though, but I have to return before Bubba's dinner.

After kissing Bubba, I got out from the house and the apartment building. Then I went ahead to the library.

After arriving and entering there, I searched for a specific topic that had to do with the lost city. Yes, The Lost City of Atlantis.

Why and How did I come up to this conclusion? I don't know. But this is one of the mythical stories that I read online and I somehow got interested in it.

And maybe it can also connect to my current case since that person had a trident on hand while stopping the Tsunami.

I reached to a specific letter of 'T' , because a title caught my attention. I reached up and grabbed the book, and it was titled as, "Tale of Atlantis".

'This is intriguing.', I thought to myself.

I went to a table where there were the least people. Well, I mean, it's not like this library has many people in it but I want to read in an atmosphere where I'm alone.

After finding a spot, I went over there and took a sit. I opened up the book and it greeted me with the title.

'Okay, let's do this.', I thought to myself.

It had a total of 100 pages, it's not that many but it's also not that short. It's a perfect book for reading at this day to be honest. And so, I started reading.

*After 3 hours of complete reading.*

"I see.. I, somehow, didn't get most of it."

I closed the book after saying that to myself.

The book had a complicated content yet interesting plot.

It told the story about an Atlantean, who became the strongest warrior in Atlantis. And after he got a family, he retired for a short amount of time. And after getting back into the war, he never returned nor could his body be found. He went missing but he was assumed to be dead in the midst of the war.

But even though he's gone, he was still held as a legend and a hero.

But my biggest questions are..

Who is this Atlantean and why did he disappear?

It was indeed a wonderful story with drama and a little mix of comedy, but mysteries are still left. And the way the story ended is just a cliffhanger.

'But again, it didn't really connect to my current investigation.', I thought to myself.

I expected it to have at least one clue or hint that can connect to the case, but it didn't really have such content.

"Guess I'll head home..", I muttered to myself.

I got up and returned the book to the shelf from where I got it from. After returning it, I got out from the library and went home.

"I guess there's also no progress today..."

It's a shame but I must accept reality. Not everything goes exactly as you planned it, but it's also interesting how fate works.

But again, today, there are no progress.
