Time is 2:00 AM. It's cold but I can handle it, it's also the perfect time to roam around the city.
"Time to head out.. Quietly.", I whispered to myself.
I got out from the Apartment building and went straight to the place where the Tsunami incident took place.
As I was walking towards the place at a normal pace, I looked around the city while walking.
It was quiet and almost dark, there are still some people outside but it's unlike the day nor early evening. I can only assume that most of the people outside are working or just dealing something illegal.
But that's none of my business for now since my main focus is this case. I'm one step closer to the truth, if I don't find anything right now then there's still more nights.
However, if the upcoming nights keep having the same results of not finding anything, then I'll go to the other Mythical case.
"It's really cold huh..", I muttered to myself in a low voice.
Good thing I brought the coat with me and some gloves, or else I would've been freezing.
While I was walking, my phone suddenly vibrated on my pocket.
*BZZT BZZT*
I took it out from my pocket and got a message. However, it wasn't from Jhon nor from the Chief. It was sent by an unregistered number on my phone..
'What the.. Who is this?', I thought to myself.
I unlocked my phone and read the message in my head, and it said...
'I wonder where you're heading Amelia.'
I immediately put my guard up and searched around my surroundings for possible suspects.
However, I spotted no one near my sight nor surroundings..
'This is bad...', I thought to myself.
If anyone finds out that I'm working on a secret case then not only am I screwed, I'm also in danger.
I decided to calm down and walk at a normal pace again, but this time.. I tried to lose the one who has sight on me.
'I don't know where you are nor do I know who you are. But, you're a danger to my life.', I thought to myself.
I walked at a normal pace but I changed the direction from where I originally planned to go.
At a single moment, where I had three choices, I started to analyze everything..
I don't know where this person is, and it's useless to find out who he is. If this person ever finds out where I'm going, then I'm screwed. So I have three choices that are available on my table.
The first one is to go to the open Café that's about 7 meters away from me and order a coffee and drink it there. It says on their sign that they're open 24/7 so there's no problem for me if I stay there for about 20 or 30 minutes until this person loses its interest on me.
The second option is to just roam around the city and kill time so that the person will think that I'm just taking an early morning walk, even though it's still 2:08 AM, I'm sure that it'll work... Probably.
The last option at hand is to go directly to that place and just look at the ocean. However, while I'm at that place, I'll be able to scan my surroundings but I'll never be able to get close whenever I find something. Thus, I'll be stuck at one place with no other movements included.
I could choose either three of those, or just go to the 4th plan. And that is... To just not care about that person and just proceed with my original plan.
It can be another stalker like Jhon, or someone from the Government.
After some deep analysis, I concluded my decision. And that is... To continue my original plan, however there's a twist.
I'll be including the first three options that I had analyzed into one execution. First, I'll go buy a coffee. Then go roam around the city for sight seeing for about 20-30 minutes. I'm certain that a person won't be able to stay at one spot for about 30 minutes, unless if that person is a professional sniper. But if that person is just a stalker, then this plan will work.
After I'm done roaming around while drinking my coffee, I'll go to the place and look at the surroundings for another 10 minutes.
With that, I'm 100% sure that the person who's keeping an eye on me, will conclude that I'm just sight-seeing.
'This is good, now time for the execution.', I thought to myself.
After analyzing everything for about a minute, I executed the plan in mind.
I got a coffee, roamed around the city for about 30 minutes, and came to the place and stalled for about 10 minutes.
Now, how will I know if that person has concluded that I'm just walking around? That's simple, I'll text that person back.
'Who is this?' , I typed on my phone and sent it on the same number earlier.
If that person replies, then that means he's yet to conclude it. If he doesn't, then he's already concluded it.
I waited for another 10 minutes for the reply, but I haven't received anything yet.
"And thus ends the tailing.", I muttered to myself.
After that little cat and mouse game, I began to search the surroundings of the place. It turned out that the place had a little beach.
'I guess it's lowtide so I guess that's that..', I thought to myself.
I jumped from the side road and landed on the sand. I didn't turn on any light source yet. Just in case if I find something, it might start running..
My eyesight is still not that bad since I'm still young so I can still see clearly.
I started to search around the beach, but there were only rocks, sand and the waters.
But I still continued to walk and search, hoping to find at least something..
After about 20 minutes of searching and walking, I wasn't able to find anything on the area..
"And here I thought I'll find something..", I muttered to myself as I let out a sigh.
I guess my luck is not with me today, I guess I'll come back by tomorrow..
"DAMN IT!!!"
After turning around and taking a step forward, I suddenly heard a shout from somewhere.
'What..?'
I tried to remember where the shout and the echoes origins, but was unable to because of the late approach.
'Maybe I was just imagining things..'
I continued to walk away back to where I originally came from and then...
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHH!!!!!"
A shriek could he heard from a distance. And as far as I could tell, that shriek didn't sound like a distress, but more like a literal stress.
I turned back and ran towards the origin of the shriek after hearing it for about a second.
I ran and ran until... I made it to the origin.
'What..... is this...?'
Those were my thoughts after discovering, a small sewer that had a light in the distance.
I brought out my flashlight that was on my phone to light up the surrounding area. There was only dirty water coming out from the sewer and some dirty stuff.
I entered the sewer and approached the light source.
As I kept on getting closer, I could hear grunts that had a high pitch tone.
"DAMN IT THIS IS SO HARD!!"
It sounds like... A girl? But... What's a girl doing under the sewers? Is she homeless?
I continued to approach the light, and I was about 6 meters away from it. So I slowly took another step.
All of a sudden, the girl went silent.
'Oh no... Did she... Notice?', I thought to myself.
"You do know that I can see your shadow on the other side right?", said the girl.
I looked to my right and saw my shadow on the wall.
'I see... So that's how she found out.', I thought to myself.
"And also, I could hear your tippy-toes. There's no need to be sneaky."
"What are you doing here in the sewers?", I asked.
"I'm living my life, so shoo.", she said.
There was a curtain that was blocking my view on the girl, so I could only see her shadow on a sitting position. And there's also a box right in front of her, what could that be?
"Are you homeless?", I asked.
"Heh. I wish. But you Atlanteans keep on coming back here even though I've already been given freedom by the King. Don't you guys have anything better to do other than trolling me?"
Trolling? Atlanteans? What?
My curiosity got ahead of me so I rushed to the curtain and opened it up. And there I saw... A girl in a stance of combat while holding a Trident on her hand.
She had blue clothing with some design on it, and she had.... White... Bluish hair...?
"Wait.. You're not an Atlantean...", she said.
"What do you mean by Atlantean?", I asked.
"Are you.... a Human?"
I wasn't able to answer immediately since I only expected that she'd run off if I ever said that I am a Human.
But I guess I'll have to use my ability to check what she really is if she does start to run off...
"Y.. Yes. I'm a Human.", I said to her.
After saying that, I slowly moved my left hand to reach my left pocket where I had my watch placed. But...
"A real Human being!? Really!?", she asked excitingly.
"Y-Yeah....?"
"OOOHHHH!!!! I finally met a human!!!", she shouted.
"Shushhh!! Someone's gonna hear you!"
"Oh sorry... I couldn't control my excitement..", she said in whisper.
She immediately calmed herself down and put her Trident on the wall after knowing that I'm a Human.
"Wait... Are you really a human? Not just an Atlantean in disguise?", she asked.
"Yes, I am a Human."
"Yes...!", she said in whisper while doing an achievement action on her hand.
"You mentioned Atlantean... Right?"
"Yeah, why? Wait... Are you a scientist that's here to kidnap me??", she asked anxiously.
"No no, I'm just... a... Human!"
She looked at me intensely as if she's inspecting me.
"Okay, I trust you."
'Eh? That easily?', I thought to myself.
After she said that, she turned off her Television which had something on display.
"A TV..?", I asked.
"Yep! I just found it."
"Wait what? Where?"
"On the dumpster that's located on the other side of the sewer. There's a dumpster there where Humans dumps some things. And I take them."
"You.. Didn't get caught?"
"Like they can. I'm a sneaky shark hehe."
She seems to be proud of what she just did.... Even though she knows the consequences if she does get caught.
But wait..
"A shark? Are you....?"
"Yes! I am a shark! An Apex Predator!! Gawrrrr~!", she said in a oddly cute yet somehow intimidating tone...?
"Right...."
"If you don't believe me then here's my tail!"
She then started to wiggle something from behind her, and it appears that she actually has a tail..
It had a texture and design of a shark's tail. But in order to be sure of it..
"Can I... Touch it..?", I asked.
"Sure! You'll be the first human to ever touch it!"
I came close to her tail and she just brought it closer to me. I slowly touched it and it felt like an actual sharks tail. It was rough yet it had a smooth texture..
"Is this really your tail?"
"Yep! If you won't believe me then I'll show you my—"
She suddenly stared to take off her clothes by dragging it upwards but...
"OKAY OKAY! STOP! DON'T TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES!"
"Why? I thought you wanted to see—"
"I'm convinced! It's alright now!"
"hmm.. Okay!"
She let her clothes back down and wore a smiling expression on her face. It's as if, she's ready to get asked by me again..
"May I know your name..?", I asked.
"My name is Gura Gawr!"
"Gura... Gawr?"
"Yep! Although you can call it the other way round or you can just call me Gura!"
"I... I see..."
I looked and scanned her from top to bottom and then took a glance at the Trident that was on her wall. Then I tried to remember that event again and there was no mistaking it....
She's the person that saved us, and she's the person that I was looking for.
