The underworld

After Charon dropped Annabeth, Grover, Percy and I off at the shore where the queue was he gave us one piece of advice "be careful of Cerberus he is probably hungry" and with those words, he left us and the other spirits on the shore.

"Well then let's go shall we can't keep the god of the dead waiting," I call behind me starting to walk towards the outline of Cerberus that I could make out in the distance leaving the others to run to catch up with me despite my smaller stature.

"Wait Night we need a plan how are we getting to the palace we can't just walk up to it!" Annabeth shouted at me as I kept walking.

Stopping and turning towards her at her words I cock my head to the left in confusion before asking "why not? It can't be that hard I have an invite so we should be able to get through any checkpoints besides Cerberus and I get along I visited him a few times when I either accidentally wandered down here or got invited down here so I fail to see the problem." I look at the three of them as they stare at me in confusion which was kind of understandable I a mortal had just said I had been invited to the underworld multiple times not to mention I had become friends with the three-headed dog Cerberus meant to guard the underworld.

Having gotten sick of waiting for their brains to catch up I started walking towards Cerberus and as I got closer he jumped up and ran towards me before headbutting me with enough force to probably have displaced some organs. Hugging the big dog I pat his left head and scratch under its chin I had found out the hard way that his other heads didn't like getting petted as much as his left it was also when Cerberus, Hades and Persephone had found out that I couldn't die permanently it was also my first experience with death in this life needles to say we were all shocked when Cerberus bit me in half and my body seemed to dissolve and recreate itself after a minute a little bit away from where I had died, yeah not fun having two people who were starting to view themselves as your parents start panicking and trying to locate your soul and then having them see your body just appear in a corner of the room, yeah that took some explaining. Anyway enough reminiscing about the past the others are getting closer.

"Night you need to explain what you just said that kind of thing isn't something that one can just say then runoff." Percy pants out as he catches up with me before he and the others stop and stare at me casually petting Cerberus.

"Oh don't mind me you guys go on ahead and if I haven't caught up with you by the time you meet your uncle just tell him I'll be along in a bit and am just playing with Cerberus for a bit, also don't worry about me Hades and Persephone have effectively adopted me and they see me as their daughter so I'll be fine here now go get your mum if I don't see you before you go I'll meet you at camp I suppose." I wave them on through towards the palace with my free hand "oh and one last thing be careful of the ledges they tend to lead into steep slopes."

With that last warning, the others leave semi reluctantly but a reminder that they still need to complete their quest had them leaving me petting and playing with Cerberus.

After about 10 minutes of play with Cerberus, I bid him farewell saying I needed to go see mum and dad as Persephone and Hades had gotten me to call them, leaving the sad dog behind to continue to guard the gates I headed towards the palace to make sure that the others hadn't gotten themselves killed or something.

Well, they weren't dead, though Grover was missing his shoes, oh and everyone turned and looked at me mid-argument as I opened the doors and walked in casually as if I lived here which I technically did I had my own room and I could use it whenever I wanted but anyway "so what's the argument about?" I ask while they all look at me and their expressions get even funnier as they were trying to figure out whether I was joking or something.

Sighing Hades or dad as he liked me calling him now pointed at Percy and informed me "I was in an argument with this fool about returning my helm to me and his constant refusal to admit that he stole it from me." hearing this I stare at him like he was a fool before sighing.

"Dad I have been living with Percy for almost a year before he arrived at Camp and until I dropped his unconscious ass at the Big House of Camp he had no clue that he was a demigod let alone the fact that greek myth was real so explain to me how he could have stolen your helm when he was with me at school trying not to get expelled again?" Hades and the others stared at me, dad for a different reason to the others.

"Wait your a demigod child of Hades!?" Annabeth shouts at me while Grover groans and Hades and I start laughing a bit.

"No I am for lack of a better word mortal, I have no divine blood in me as far as we know no dad adopted me alongside mum or as you know her Persephone they adopted me during one of my accidental trips down here you would be surprised how many paths in the labyrinth lead to the underworld." that last part caught all of their attentions with dad giving me a look that said we will talk of this when your mother gets here that one caused me to gulp mum was scary when she got mad.

"Anyway if we have finally agreed Percy wasn't the culprit we can send him off to stop a war between old Thunder cock and Barnicle beard as I don't know about you but I don't think having the entire human population in the underworld dead doesn't seem like a good thing." saying this I once again got everyone to stare at me as most people didn't insult the gods like that.

"Um Night you may not want to say those kinds of things" Percy muttered as he held the firecracker known as the Master Bolt which I had finally looked at, big mistake I had a headache coming fast from that information overload.

"Why what's the worst they can do? Smite me down for my disrespect?" at this Hades started laughing as he realised that since I couldn't die permanently and would come back after a small amount of time those kinds of punishments the gods normally used wouldn't work on me.

"Anyway get going you have those pearls go I'll make sure your mum is fine now get going and beware of the one who gave you that gift" as I said that last part while they were stepping on the pearls I gestured to the bag Percy had pulled the master bolt from.
