Stephen's Pov
Wednesday Morning 7 a.m.
I woke up at 5 a.m, unable to sleep. And it's 7 a.m now. Today's the first day of a new job for me. I have worked at a lot of places before, but never felt this nervous. Why are you so nervous, Stephen?. It's just a job, I told myself. I was still in bed.
I got out of my bed, did the morning shower routine and made myself bread toast and eggs for breakfast. I watched some news, nothing interesting. I tried to distract myself but this nervous feeling was not going away.
Why all of a sudden, am I feeling like this ?. I tried to think of a reason, but my mind wouldn't budge. So, to keep myself distracted I started reading "Romeo and Juliet". Yes, I love shakespeare. It always distracts me. But, I don't believe in love. I have been with a fair share of women, whom I liked, but never loved, and I don't know why. I could never bring myself to love a women like Romeo loved Juliet.
The beeping sound of my alarm brought me back to reality. Shit, it's 3 p.m already. I have to report to work by 4 p.m. I cursed myself and started to get ready.
I found a blue shirt in my closet, and paired it with a black pants. This shirt was my sister's gift for Christmas last year. I always got a lot of compliments whenever I wear this shirt. Since I'm unusually nervous, I thought may be this shirt could boost my confidence.
I double checked everything, locked my apartment and got into my car.
I reached to my new workplace, and as I got out of my car, my nervousness increased. When will this fucking feeling stop, I cursed at myself. Ms. Kim was standing at the entrance. She's the boss but not those bossy bosses but a polite one. I knew that ever since she interviewed me. I walked towards her, "Good afternoon Ms. Kim", I greeted.
"Good afternoon dear", she replied not even looking at me, but was fixated on the entrance. I think she's waiting on someone.
"I'm just waiting for Diya, she is late today", she said, still not looking at me. Who's this Diya?.
"Diya is a part-time bartender, the best if I may say", she said as if she read my mind. "She's mostly late by 10 to 15 minutes everyday, but don't be harsh on her. She's a medical student, doing this part-time job just to help her mother. She is most polite being you could ever see", she continued.
"You're late", she stopped a girl in her early 20s, wearing a pink top and brown pants. The girl didn't reply but smiled at Ms. Kim. That's the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. Suddenly my nervousness increased.
"Diya, meet our new manager, Mr. Roberts. Roberts, This is Diya, our part-time bartender", she introduced us. I looked into her eyes. She had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen. Actually everything about her was beautiful. I was speechless. She was looking like a beautiful painting brought to life. Stephen, don't screw up, it's just your first day, I said to myself.
"Hello Ms. Diya, your boss had said a lot about you, it's a pleasure to meet you", I stretched my right hand for a shake but she wouldn't budge. I think she knew that I was nervous. Damn Man.
