Fredrick, Jay and Ying

It took a moment before Fredrick's rough voice registered for Zac, and at the same time Zac realized that Fredrick's arm was raised, not to take out any remaining wolf, but to take him out if he continued to appear as a threat.

Immediately, Zac stopped growling, and slowly raised his arms up over his head, backing away slowly, almost stumbling over the enormous body of Forest Wolf behind him.

"Sorry!" Zac tried to speak, and his voice came out as a low growling bark, that was far louder than he wanted it to be.

'Come on, come on.' Zac tried to collect himself, but all he could think about was the metallic taste of blood filling his mouth, and his sudden loss of awareness since he had started fighting the wolf.

Frederick watched the wolf hybrid back away, his eyes narrowed, he had his hands raised, but one couldn't be too sure.

"Let him off, Frederick! You know that these G-Types with animal genes sometimes lose themselves!" The man wielding the bat called out, shepherding the surviving woman and child in front of him, now that the theta within the clearing had been neutralized.

"I don't know, Jay, this guy seems a little off. It's been a long time since I've seen a G-Type with such animalistic features. I'd say he's a relic like we are, but he looks young." Frederick frowned at Zac, looking him up and down carefully.

"He doesn't even have pants, and besides, you G-Types get your own special meds. Seems like he hasn't been taking his." Zac swallowed nervously as Fredrick stared at him, facing the enormous cyborg was a completely different experience when he considered you a threat. \

Fredrick's face had a mean frown across it, his eyebrows almost vertical and eyes narrowed.

There was a loud swooshing noise, and then the sound of running feet. Everyone turned to the figure that had just landed in the clearing.

Like Fredrick and Jay, Ying wore combat fatigues, except he only wore a pair of camouflage trousers, and leather boots.

A pair of enormous wings spread out behind him, and he slowly folded them inwards, and even folded behind him, the tops of the wings rose high above his shoulders, while the long feathers along the bottom almost swept the ground.

His bare shoulders and arms were covered in downy feathers, and he crossed his arms as he looked around at the clearing.

Ying blinked often, his yellow pupils staring at Zac, sweeping him from head to toe, taking in the fangs, the clawed hands, long tail and paw like feet.

Ying himself looked odd, his torso was far wider than your average man, and even as he walked towards the others, he had an odd gait, almost hopping forward.

"Come on Fredrick, leave off him. I watched everything go down from above, he didn't come close to attacking anything other than the wolves. Even I've had days where I lose myself at the sight of mouse." Ying's voice was harsh and each word he spoke almost sounded like he was screaming it out.

"Hmmmm. Alright. But I'll be keeping an eye on him." Fredrick's face broke into a grin at his own joke, as he turned around, his sensors blinking red in the back of his head.

"Well, seeing as he's all on his own, and acting wild, there's no chance he's with the sanctioned teams." Jay murmured to the other two, as they all picked their way through the clearing to gather around Jay and the two lonely survivors.

"Alright, you. You can either stick with us, or make yourself scarce. Whatever you do, don't even whisper about us to the sanctioned teams once they decide to show up and do their jobs." Frederick said to Zac, clearly not recognizing him in the slightest.

'What on earth does he mean? Aren't they rescuers?' Zac asked himself as he looked around at the other Augmented in the clearing, his odd blue, yellow wolf vision making it difficult to see their silhouettes thanks to the combat fatigues they wore.

'I guess they're not officially supposed to be here. That does make sense, since they all seem to be older generation Augmented. But why would they come out to a Transition Zone like this, surely they're not here just to rescue people.' Zac was in disbelief, his cynical mind couldn't make sense of the fact that the Augmented around him came into a Transition Zone just to rescue others, and he searched for a possible ulterior motive they might have.

'Maybe they're some kind of corporate scouts, trying to get an early look for their bosses so they can bid on the rights to the zone with prior knowledge.' Zac thought, standing dazed in the center of the clearing, his mind deliberately shying away from the fact that he had been wildly tearing into the wolves that lay scattered around him.

"Well? What's it going to be? You sticking around?" Frederick called out, as Zac stood still, an absent look on his face.

"I will go." Zac growled out, struggling to form words with his transformed throat, he bounded out of the clearing, heading in the opposite direction he had come from.

'What the f*** is this? He really doesn't recognize me? And what was I doing, acting like some savage animal.' Zac shook his head from side to side at himself as he ran through the forest, falling to his knees once he had travelled a good distance away.

For the second time that day, Zac started to vomit, the taste of blood still in his mouth, the images of close up gaping wounds that he had torn out himself, the smell of blood, guts and excrement that had come from the dead and dying wolves, it was all so overwhelming.

'WHat am I going to do now? Frederick's going to be looking for a skinny teen in a blanket, not a wolf hybrid.' Panicked thoughts started to rush through Zac's mind.
