Four figures are hidden in the shadows of the alleyway across the street from the Siren's Call. They watch as Melinda leads Kael into the two-story house next door.
The large portly figure asks the one in the front, "Gale, I don't think we should be doing this. We're acting like thieves."
The man in the front is the handsome man that was blasted by Melinda earlier. "Shut it, Dylan. That fucking bitch embarrassed us. What face would we have if word gets out a whore beat us up."
"But you saw how strong she was. We can't beat her if we fight her again. And I don't think that madam is a whore. She certainly seemed off the menu when you tried earlier today."
"Relax Dylan. If we play this right, we won't have to fight her. We'll also all get a turn at her." After Gale's reply, his face distorts with a sinister grin.
Behind the two of them are the burly man with the scar and the slightly fit man who started the mess earlier that night. The burly man is currently bandaging the other man's wounds on his thighs.
"Hold still Theo. I need to make sure the bandages are snug." Theo winces when the burly man slightly pulls on the bandage. "You sure are lucky, the blades missed your arteries."
"I sure as hell don't feel lucky. Screw that bitch," Theo mumbles under his breath. "How long will it take to heal Ned?"
"I'd say a week at most." Ned finishes tying up the bandage.
Gale turns over to Dylan and says in a tone that bars any refusal, "Dylan, make sure you watch over the house and check who else is living there. See if there is someone else besides just the boy we can take. The rest of us are going to find a place to blow off some steam."
"Why should I do it? I don't even want to do this!"
Ned pipes up with, "Well one of us got off while the rest of us are all left hot and bothered."
"She only had enough time to give me a blowy. Although - " Dylan starts drolling a little as he starts to reminisce.
Gale slaps Dylan on the back pulling him from his stupor. "And that's why you'll be playing a lookout."
Dylan realized he misspoke so he reluctantly hankers down to prepare to watch over the house for the night while the other three head out.
Meanwhile, in the Siren's Call, three women are sitting together in a circle on a bed. The bed has red satin sheets. The room is dimly lit by a lantern on top of the dresser in the corner. A jar of reeds in the corner of the room release a pleasant floral scent.
The woman wearing the silk bathrobe is currently rubbing Bella's back in comfort.
"It's alright Bella, don't let that disrespectful customer get you down."
Bella rolls her eyes before responding. "I'm fine Cheryl. You don't have to comfort me. Little Kael already sang me his get better song." The other two women giggle a little before Bella continues. "We've had worse customers before. Honestly, I'm more upset over the fact that I can't get off tonight. It's been two weeks since I last had a customer. I'm so pent up right now and to top it all of I'm not even getting paid now."
"You're the one who threw away his money," the short woman chimes in.
"Dramatic effect Donna! It's important to let them know that my asshole is off-limits."
Donna scoots over before fully palming both of Bella's asscheeks. "I don't even understand the appeal of an ass this big. Honestly, I think it's gotten even bigger."
"At least I have some assets. I honestly think your tits and ass have gotten smaller." Bella begins trying to feel Donna up before they are struggling with each other on the bed.
"I wouldn't want inconvenient knockers on my chest or giant hams on my backside away! No offense Cheryl!" Donna manages to utter out before her face gets pinned by Bella's ass. Bella poses with two victory signs.
Cheryl holds her sides with laughter before wiping away a tear. "Don't worry Donna, I'm perfectly fine with my 'inconvenient knockers' and 'giant hams'. Also, get off her Bella before she suffocates." A muffle from below Bella's ass sounds in affirmation.
After Bella gets off of Donna, Donna sits up straight and begins trying to fix her hair that got messed up in the tussle.
"Are you excited for Emi's awakening tomorrow?" Bella asks Cheryl.
"You know most people don't usually awaken on their first attempt at 8 years old. Most people awaken around 11 or 12 years old. I'm a little worried she won't awaken until the last moment at 16 like me."
"When did her dad awaken?" Donna inquires.
"I don't know, he was just a customer that I accidentally got pregnant with. We didn't even have a relationship, let alone talk about personal things like our awakening dates."
"Do you think Kael will awaken?" Bella asks worriedly.
The other two furrow their eyebrows leaving questioning expressions on their face.
"We'll find out tomorrow after they get back. You're going to escort them tomorrow right Bella?"
"Make sure to stay safe. You never know what might happen even in town," Cheryl adds in a warning.
"The chapel is only 5 minutes away from here. We'll be back safe and sound before you know it."
Back in the house next door, Melinda leads Kael past the kitchen towards the stairs. A blonde woman is in the kitchen washing the dishes.
She has a lovely smooth face, thin eyebrows, with a narrow chin.
Her body shape is kind of like an inverted triangle. While her waist is not that narrow and her ass is of decent size, her breasts are abnormally large.
They are each about three times the size of Kael's head and it is a wonder she isn't currently hunched over.
She turns her head at the sound of footsteps. "Oh my, what are you doing here Kael? Didn't I tuck you in already?"
"He said he couldn't sleep so he snuck out. You need to be more careful in the future Lara," Melinda scolds Lara in a light tone.
"Oh don't worry Melinda, I'm sure he didn't leave to do anything bad."
Kael vigorously nods his head, hoping to dispel the prospect of a scolding from his mother.
"I'll be back down after I tuck this one into bed."
Kael follows Melinda into the first room on the right upstairs. The bed is positioned so that someone could turn to their left and see the sky out of the circular window. Sky blue linen covers the bed and there is a dresser on the other side of the room. Next to the bed is a night table with a lantern on it. There is a desk in the corner opposite the window and a bookshelf filled to the brim with books next to the desk.
Melinda leads Kael to the bed and tucks him in leaving him with a kiss on the forehead.
"Good night my precious baby."
"Good night mama."
Melinda starts to leave but freezes at Kael's next words. "Mama, did you mean what you promised yesterday?"
A few days ago Kael had asked her a question she had been dreading. She knew it would eventually come, however, she had not expected it so soon. Kael asked her about his father.
She took for granted how calm he acted most of his life. She ended up saying how she found him in the woods.
At first, Kael seemed to take it alright. His gentle smile never left his face and he even consoled Melinda saying, "It's okay. You are my mother and that's all I need."
When she went to look in on Kael yesterday, she saw him curled into a ball on his bed staring out the window. She could hear his soft sobs and see his body shaking. His violet eyes twinkled under the light of the moon like lonely violet gems. His eyes were open but downcast as tears dripped down his face. She consoled him by wrapping around him from behind and giving him soft gentle rubs on his head.
She wanted to avoid Kael believing he was unwanted by his parents. Such thoughts would be devastating for a child's self-esteem. So she told him that he was likely separated from them due to unforeseen circumstances. They are probably looking for him right now.
Kael then asked her if he could look for them. A slew of worrisome thoughts rushed through her head.
There were two prevailing thoughts. The first was a concern for her son's well-being if he were to head out into the world.
The second was a grim thought. She didn't want him to leave her side. She was worried about what he would discover. She didn't want Kael to find his parents because she was scared he would abandon her.
After much thought, she said, "You can only leave my side when you are strong enough."
"Promise?"
Only after a deep pause did she reply. "Promise."
Her promise cheered Kael up and his sad visage was nowhere to be seen.
Melinda realized Kael was still staring at her while waiting for her reply. His eyes were wide and he seemed to be on the verge of pouting. She had little chance to go back on her words now.
"Yes, when you're strong enough you can go look for your birth parents."
Kael gives her a glowing smile after getting her confirmation. He digs himself deeper under the covers and drifts off to sleep.
Melinda leaves the room hoping Kael doesn't awaken tomorrow. More talented people generally awaken earlier. Melinda didn't want Kael to fall into this category.
She knew these were terrible thoughts to entertain, thoughts a mother should never have. Still, she could not help herself. Long ago she had no hope for having a child. When she had finally been given what she long gave up on, she was gifted with Kael. She felt like she was growing crazy at the thought of losing him.
'I hope my boy isn't too talented. The more talented he is, the sooner he'll leave me. At least just give me a few more years to be with him.'
