Death

"Wake up."

"Huh" Rubbing her eyes Marie was woken by a familiar voice. Not one for early mornings, Marie was groggy and took a second to make out that it was still pitch dark and her fire was still going.

"Be fast men are coming close to your location and I do not think they have good intentions." Said the system.

Alarmed this is not something you want to hear in the middle of the night. "What direction system." She did not want to run right into danger.

"Run directly behind you and find a place to hide." The message was clear and direct.

Doing as the system said Marie was trying to be as fast and silent as she could. This is not the world to be found by some random men.

The skills from the genin start to shine now that she can understand the best way to run without making too much noise. While not some amazing technique where she blends into the darkness to hide from somebody who can use ninja magic to find her. It was subtle things like which part of your foot to place on the floor first and what plants will give away her position if stepped on. It seems silly but if it works is it that dumb?

Crouching down in some vegetation some 30 feet away she could start to hear her intruders.

"Nobody is here?"

"Don't be stupid, see the fire is still going they must have heard us and high-tailed it out of here. Probably your fat ass Iyekoetin"

"Fuck off Kaoru, If I did not have to carry the girl I could be as silent as the rest of you." Like a sack of potatoes, he had a young girl draped on his shoulder. She was calm not something you would expect from a person who was kidnapped.

"Both of you shut up. Mostly you Lyekoetin it's your fucking fault we are in this stupid forest in the first place." A stern voice from a grizzled man.

"Sorry boss!" At the same time, both men apologized. It was almost like they practiced how to do it in conjunction.

"Now, since somebody has left us with a cozy fire and place to rest I want you Kaoru to be on the first watch." Dealing out orders this voice was the leader of the ragtag group of intruders.

Listening to the conversation Marie could get an idea of the make-up of how many people interrupted her sleep.'Should be a leader, two lackeys, and a kidnapped girl? Scary I could be in the same spot if the system had not woken me up.' Not to make the system more smug she kept her thanks to herself.

Moving further into the forest, Marie did not want to be a part of this situation. What could she do? It had only been a short time since she had been in this world it was too soon in her mind to be able to save the girl.

"You are just going to leave?" Said the system.

"Yes, I am going to leave are you crazy what could I do in this situation?" Marie did not want to admit it but she was quite scared. In her last life, she had no confrontation with people who would do her harm. Willingly charging into a situation where that's all those men wanted was to cause her harm was a scary prospect.

"What a loser God has attached me to. Can you live with what those men are going to do to that girl?" The question was blunt and harsh.

She was not some hero even in her last life she hated that troupe of people who will sacrifice everything just to save some person. Most of the time it causes trouble for themselves or their families not worth it. "That is not fair system you and I would end up just like her."

"What a cold-hearted monster. What about the gains you could get from the men?"

*Sigh

"What gains could I possibly get from bandits? Learn how to be a horrible person, nice upgrade." Sarcastic Marie was not in the mood to be guilted into this.

"It would seem you are lost in this forest you could gain the geographic location from one of them at the least. Not to mention, you at the moment lack funds of any kind yes? Surely they have some amount of money on them."

Listening to the system it had a point. It would be really handy if she had an inkling of where she was. Money was another thing that could come in handy for obvious reasons. Yet, these things were not worth her putting her life in danger. "Not doing it."

Set in her decision she moved along the forest away from the bandits only to stop abruptly. "What if the system offers you a premium reward?" Marie was angry. She did not know why the system was trying so hard but it would be stupid not to at least listen to what it had to offer.

"WHAT kind of reward?"

"The system is willing to let you choose a skill from the glorious Samarai Tomoe Gozen." Tilting her head Marie was confused.

"Who the hell is Tomoe Gozen?" Like most Americans, she had no idea who that was. While well versed in Naruto she had never heard of a Tomoe Gozen.

"You don't know of the great Tomoe Gozen? What a stupid host." Smug in its reply it had fun at Marie's expense.

"No, I assume you don't mind telling me oh great system."

Cheeky the system continued. "A well-versed woman samurai of the Genpei War. Able to stand up to even the greatest of warriors of her time."

Premium reward Marie was a little angry she even stopped moving."She is from earth? What kind of reward is that?"

"You are stupid huh? Right now you have the knowledge of a genin right?"

"Yes."

"So pretty much lower than cannon fodder in the grand scheme of things." said the system.

"You could say that."

"Then you would turn down a skill from a hardened warrior who has fought and killed many men. What are you if not stupid?"

Thinking about it would it be worth it?' On one hand, I possibly die or get captured by bandits. If I win I get a skill from a samurai on earth. Not a bad deal but not the best. "Two skills from Tomoe." If she was going to do this at least she could get more.

"Deal." With no hesitation from the system, Marie felt the system capitalized on a good deal. Could she have asked for more? "Three skills from Tomoe."

"You agreed on the price no more increasing it." Marie felt like she made a mistake.

"Don't be like that system you have more room to move."

"...."

'Fuck, This stupid system always does this to me. Never mind that, How the hell should I ki...deal with these men. The only weapons I have are my stone ax and my stone-throwing kunai.' Edging out the details Marie wanted to wait a little longer until she was sure the other men were asleep and then deal with the lookout.

After a few hours, Marie felt they were sufficiently asleep. Even the lookout was knocked out. 'They sure picked the right guy for the job ha.' Moving closer to the camp she could finally make out the men. They looked like stereotypical bandits. Tattered clothes weapons were a mitch match of rusty swords and knives. She could even now make out the captured girl who seems to be placed right next to the portly bandit.

inching closer to the asleep look-out Marie was sweating buckets. Hesitant was an understatement for how she felt. This was murder she is surprised at how people just get isekied and go straight to murdering without even thinking about it.

'Ok we can do this just a small swing down and he is dead.' Standing directly above her victim this was the final step to becoming a killer. 'Just do it!' Bringing her shaky hands down in a piercing motion aimed for his neck.

Just shy of entering his neck she stopped. 'System do I need to do this? I don't want to kill somebody why do I have to do this?" Tears started to run down her face.

"At this point, it's either you do this or they capture you and do unspeakable things. And considering how much time you are wasting it will be day any time soon." Like always the system seemed to have no sympathy.

'Fuck you system I give up I'm leaving.' Finally done Marie did not think she was cut out for this world. Before she could make her hasty escape her eyes went wide and she stiffened up.

"ah eh" The man she was above started to wake up.

'No,no,no,no,no,no,no,no, please don't make me do this.' Freaking out Marie wanted to run away.

"Huh" Staring at the girl above him he thought it was a dream.

'FUCK!' Steeling herself she dropped the kunai on his neck as hard as possible. While not as sharp as its metal counterpart it slid into his neck without issue.

"GA Wha.."

'Shit.' Seeing him making noise choking on his blood Marie covered his mouth with her hand. 'Just die, please. Die, die die die die die die.' Holding onto the man's mouth with all the power she could blood could be felt seeping into her hand. 'It's warm oh god why is it so warm.'

Through her tear-covered eyes, she watched as the life slowly left the man. She felt sick with how much blood was leaving the man. A primal feeling of dread and nausea struck her. Bringing her hand up to her mouth to prevent herself from puking. This was the worst she had ever felt.

"Hurry up they will wake up soon." Said the system.

She hated this system with all her heart but she knew it was right. With wobbly legs, she went up to her next victim. 'You fat piece of shit why did you have to come here huh? You could have been anything but you chose to do this.'

Ready this time as soon as she pierced his neck she had her hand on his mouth to prevent noise. Luckily this time it went smother, the man did not even open his eyes.

Giving herself a break in between murders she noticed the girl was staring at her. No emotion could be seen on her face just a blank stare. Almost like she was just a silent observer. 'Don't stare at me.' Marie wanted to shout. She felt ashamed of what she had done so far.
