Chapter 88: Benji

BENJI NEVER WOULD LIKE hospitals.

They made him think about his aunt and uncle. Mom. They'd watched Dad waste away while visiting Mom. Hospitals symbolized all the loss in their lives. It seemed as though every time he went to one someone died. For all Garth was speaking to him, he might as well be dead.

The asshole.

Benji pressed back into the headrest and blew out a breath as he drove back into Ransom.

Dixie would say that Garth was scared that he was expressing himself in the only way he knew how. She said a lot of smart shit Benji needed to hear. If it wasn't for her he'd have laid into Garth. Instead, Benji was maintaining something that resembled calm.
