Chapter 68

Late Sunday afternoon, Delaney climbed the steps to her apartment and wondered if she was walking funny. Her body felt deliciously sore and used in all the best possible ways. She should've been exhausted. They'd barely slept. Instead she was deliriously happy, maybe for the first time in her life.

Sean dumped her bag just inside her doorway but stayed on the stoop.

"Aren't you coming in?"

He shook his head and drew her out to stand with him. "We both know what will happen if I come in, and I have somewhere to be in half an hour."

Grinning, Delaney looped her arms around his shoulders. "You're an efficient man. I'm sure we could do all sorts of interesting things in half that time."

"Vixen," he growled, nipping at her lips. "I'm not coming in."

Only half feigning disappointment, she sighed. "Okay, fine. You have to go be all responsible. But thank you for an amazing weekend. It was just what I needed."

"I was happy to come to your rescue, milady."

"My hero."
