As her stomach gave a snarl, Delaney glanced at the clock. Ten after six. "What's taking so long?"
"Just one more patient to get out the door," Shelby announced. "Then pizza for all."
"We were waiting on test results," Piper explained. "Miranda's giving them now."
"What?" The shriek erupted from patient room two, echoing down the hall.
"I'm guessing they weren't good results." Delaney felt a pang of sympathy for whoever was in there.
Suddenly the door flew open. " - getting a second opinion. This is some kind of a cruel joke. Payback for her."
Recognizing Gina Draper's strident voice, Delaney dropped down behind her desk before the other woman saw her. She didn't want another confrontation on her last day of work.
"You're welcome to seek a second opinion. But I assure you, it's no joke. This is a medical clinic, not a comedy club." Miranda's tone was firm. "Meanwhile, I suggest you have a conversation with your partner."
