No longer able to breathe, her eyes locked to his. No matter what she did, she could not pull away. He lowered his face with the full intention of kissing her. Both of them knew what was coming. He was praying she wouldn’t move. She was praying he would continue while praying herself away at the same time. Both hearts were racing. Each one felt the intensity that hovered between them. No breathing, no thoughts, just each other.
“Ah, gross. On my own porch?” Layford’s voice rang out from the open door and pulled them apart.
Brenna let her hair hide her face as she finished her coffee. Slaton groaned as thoughts of killing his brother rose up. He rubbed his face with his hand to compose himself before he spoke.
“Don’t you have somewhere else to be?” He glared at his brother.
“Yeah, like anywhere you two aren’t making kissy faces. Geez, my teacher and my brother. What could get any more gross?” Layford ran down the steps and headed to his friend’s house down the road.
