“Well?” Eaton demanded as Slaton sat the phone down.

“It’s a man, I know that and...” He looked at Brenna. “He’s after Brenna.”

“That settles it.” Eaton sat his fork down and looked at Brenna. “You can’t go back to your place alone.”

“He’s right. You need to pack more than an overnight bag and come out to stay with us.”

“Why does it always have to be with you? She has other options and she should have the right to choose them.” Both men were facing each other again in anger.

“I wouldn’t hurt her.”

“Stop it!” Brenna, not caring that others were staring at them, raised her voice. “I could just slap both of you. First you talk of my safety, and then you set about driving me crazy.” She grabbed her coat and purse and stood looking at them with flames coming out of her eyes.
