“Was it him?” He sat the phone down, turned her to him, and looked into her ashen face.
All she could do was nod and then bury her face against him. Several choice words came out of his mouth as he held her tight. The passion between them had been replaced with fear and anger.
“Sh. I’m here. You’ll be fine.” He rubbed his face against her hair and squeezed her.
“He knew you were here. It was as though he was watching us.”
He tightened his arms around her. “It’s okay. Let’s go watch a movie or something and forget about it.”
As he spoke he was looking around at the windows for any sign of someone watching. All the curtains were closed. It just didn’t make sense. None of it made sense to him.
