Emergency

Layford changed back to a man and grabbed Eaton’s body. He dashed with all his might towards the house. Half the pack broke off to run formation around them so they could protect the wounded man. The rest remained behind to guard Slaton and Brenna. The two brothers, surrounded by wolves and each with a body in his arms, ran through the woods.

Slaton, very aware of the cold body in his arms, was focused on getting home. The wolves were there to take care of anyone that tried to stop him. Even if Creeper appeared, he would have kept running and let the pack take care of the demon. Only Brenna mattered now.

“Mom! Mom!” Slaton prayed they were close enough for his mother to mentally hear them.

“Is everything all right?”

“Call 9-1-1. We need an ambulance out here.”

“Brenna?”

“Yes, and Eaton. Eaton is bleeding, and Brenna ended up in a creek, and I think she was knocked out.”

“It’s done.”

“Mom, she’s so cold.”
