A collective sigh rippled through the pack as the storm clouds peeled back to reveal the sun once again. The wolves kept a wary eye open as they resumed their search of the mountain. They were finding nothing, but at least they were nearby in case something did happen. They also knew to expect the unexpected.

Within the cave, Brenna rested. She found the excursions into Jolon’s brain exhausting though highly satisfying. She had been shocked to find how well the memory had worked. Maybe now he would leave them alone and wait for the next bearer. That would give them time to find out how to kill him and save all future generations from his torture.
