Jolon laughed as he moved along. They were close. He could feel them. Even though he had gotten side-tracked many times, he always found their tracks again. He was no fool. He knew that the spirits were messing with him, but they had no idea how determined he was. No false trail would keep him from draining the blood from their bodies. Maybe he needed to curse another area of the land to draw their attention away from him. It had worked so many times in the past.

Now, he could almost smell Tahnee. There was something about her that drew him to her. She was strong against the fear in her. He would have admired her more if she hadn’t been the one to give birth to Slaton. Tahnee was the one to blame for that. She brought the one into the world that interfered the most with his plans. Now that Slaton was out of the way, he could have a little fun in his revenge as part of his plan to draw Brenna out.
