Looking at the greenish-haired boy I can barely maintain my inner laugh. But it was difficult for me to stand properly on ice for the first time too.
Everyone is getting more and more natural but that boy seems not to have made any progress. I felt pity for him, so I skated toward him. I gave him a hand, he got his balance back.
"Thank you" his first word left his mouth.
I don't know why but I get a little bit chilled hearing his voice.
"Can you stand by yourself now?" I asked the boy.
"I can't, I will fall again" he gives me a straight answer.
If he is so scared then why is he here? I asked myself.
"Hey if you fall one time then stand up immediately, try harder again and again. Don't you ever get scared of falling in ice skating " I put some effort into saying those words to him.
Was he that dumb? He wasn't able to skate for a little bit after falling so much. While everyone already got it a little. They were laughing at him. It was pissing me off a little, no no a lot!
I grabbed the boy's hand and started to skate around the rink.
"Be careful, Mahi! He is new at this" Mom yelled a little.
After so much hardship he could finally skate, more like he can keep his balance.
He was so happy, smiling ear to ear.
I felt a good vibe going through my body. The boy in front of me was looking at me strangely like he saw a ghost. Is this his reaction after I helped him so much?
"Why are you looking at me like that ?"
"Y...your hair!"
"Yeah, what about it ?"
"It's turning gray!"
What is he talking about? I touched my hair but I feel the same.
It didn't take so long for mom to approach me. "What's happening?"
"Mahi! your..." auntie stopped.
"Ehh!"
Auntie brings out a mirror in front of me, leaving me speechless. Is it me?
My hair is no longer black but it's completely ash grey! Before knowing anything it turned black again. Leaving mom and auntie with a lot of thoughts.
They had to call off the training, and all of them went home.
Ohhh! shit, I forgot to ask the boy's name!
We were on our way to the quirk specialist. I am a little bit surprised too. Even this morning, my quirk only affects my eye color but that's temporary and now my hair too!
After the quirk specialists checkup, even the doctor couldn't understand. He simply calls it a quirk growth. But why so sudden,?
Isn't quirk growth supposed to happen during hard training? Mommy told me not to worry.
~ A Few days later ~
Except for that day, Mahi's grey hair never appeared. But a sudden change has occurred. When Mahi uses his quirk, day by day his skin tone is becoming pale and paler. That his friends are mocking about, even bullying him.
Today at school Mahi is going to the cafeteria.
On his way back some kids from the upper class stood before him. Mahi stops at the moment.
"Why are you guys blocking my way?"
"Aren't you the 3rd grader who has an ice quirk?" they asked.
"yes, I'm"
Before he could understand anything a punch fell on his soft cheek. Making Mahi fell to the ground.
"Why are you hurting me?"
"You little brat! dare to talk back?"
Another punch hit Mahi's stomach, causing him to choke blood.
"Brother that's too much!" said a wimp standing behind the 5th graders.
"Andrew! You, but why?"
(Andrew is Mahi's best friend)
"You always show off your quirk and the teacher praises you so much for your quirk, but my quirk isn't cool. I'm so pissed off, you are always clinging to me making me always remind me of how uncool my quirk is!"
Mahi becomes speechless.
"But I always admire your quirk!"
"I don't need your sympathy !"
Andrew's word cause Mahi startled, that he never thought about his friend that way.
"It's a misunderstanding, don't go Andrew!"
As he saw Andrew's back that he was running from here.
(Mahi feels pain inside his chest. He grabs his chest that he would tear it apart from this sudden pain.)
"Ahhhhhhhhhh!"
As the scream left the surroundings becoming covered with ice. More ice spikes were appearing beside him. The students were running away from the place. Where Mahi was trembling from pain, asking for help. No one came. He was trapped inside the iced walls that appeared without his command.
Before he became unconscious he saw a golden light breaking through the ice walls ~
Mahi opened his eyes and found him in the infirmary room. A blue-haired girl sitting beside him noticed him opening his eyes.
"Hey ! that was dangerous don't you think so ?"As she asked Mahi
"Where's mom?" Mahi said in a low tone.
"Your mom is on her way here," the girl answered.
"Who are you ?"
"Well my name is Nejire, Nejire Hado! I'm a 5th grader and those boys were from my class. I'm so sorry for what they did to you."
"Was that you who saved me?" Mahi asked.
"Umm...technically yes but the teachers told me to do so. The walls were so hard to break, you know!"
"I'm sorry for causing trouble." Mahi apologizes to Nejire...
"It's ok but you have to learn how to control your quirk. Better quirks come with better responsibility you know."
Her words made him raise his head and look into her face seriously.
A teacher came in~
"Nejire, you can go to your class now."
Nejire left~
Miharu came with a crying face and hugged him very tightly.
"Are you ok, my baby?"
"Yes mom, I'm ok"
Mahi was talking with Miharu, and the teacher interrupted.
"Mahi! Would you mind telling me what happened, why are you hurt so badly?"
Mahi didn't answer and remained silent.
"Mahi it's ok if you don't tell us but it might be harder for you in future. You might face the same problem again"
Still, Mahi's silent.
"Teacher I'll talk to him"
The teacher left~
Mahi hugged Miharu.
"Mom why do I have to have this quirk that my friends hate me so much. I don't want it"
Miharu is shocked.
"Baby! Don't be sad, they might misunderstand you but you have to gain their trust"
"Their trust? how ?"
"You have to find your way by yourself. Better quirk comes with great responsibility."
The words that the girl and mom said are the same. Mahi is in deep thoughts.
There's only one thing in his mind now.
"What's the meaning?"
