CHAPTER 33

MARCUS SALDANHA WAS HOLDING his chrome .40 PT100 pistol, shedding copious tears on his face in total despair, his world was being shattered at that moment.

The silence of the moment was killing each of them.

Dora for losing her peaceful and assured future.

Eduardo for shaming his family like that and;

Marcus, for realizing that everything he had lived up to that moment with Dora – his reason for living.

It had been a big and hopeless lie...

Those few seconds became an eternity for all of them.

SINCE A CHILD, MARCUS had a serious stuttering problem, but meeting Dora, it seemed that all his problems were over, especially stuttering.

His parents came to respect him for the first time in his life, his friends outside college admiring him.

He didn't quite know what real fame was like, but just being next to the most beautiful woman in college had made Marcus feel like a real man for the first time in his life.

And for the last time too...

MARCUS went into a kind of trance and left the room walking slowly on his back.

–– IT'S ALL RIGHT? Asked Eduardo after Marcus left the house.

–– To be honest - she took a deep breath, completely indecisive – I don't know, I think I'm more concerned with him right now than with us, but one hour I would find out.

He hugged her tightly.

–– Calm down that everything will be fine, I'm here, I won't let anything bad happen.
