Chapter 13: The Old Mine

There was a rattling in the bushes, out came the old man that Mike saw on Route 1 when he was fresh on his journey. The old man told him a short quote. He said to Mike, "Disaster Leads Ahead." Mike became scared for the future but was determined. Mike and Carson were battling with the trainers on Route 3. At the end of the route was a cave to Migna City. There was an alternate route where they would need to scale a rocky terrain but was closed because of a landslide. Their only option was to go through the cave.

They entered the cave and it said "Pomeron Cave, watch your step". Luckily, Mike packed a flashlight in his bag which they used to navigate through the cave. A few steps in the cave, they heard a crumbling noise that kept on getting louder. The entrance was caved in. The only way they could exit is by going deep into the cave. The cave was quiet, the only thing they could hear were drips of water. Deeper into the cave, they saw a sign that said "Gold Miners Route", Sandra was excited because there was gold in the mine. They kept on walking through the cave until Carson found an old mine cart. The Mine Cart had rust but still had the potential to make the cave journey faster. Carson was the first person to enter the cart, but it wasn't properly secured and the cart was moving without Mike and Sandra.

The cart was rolling faster and faster down the mine. Since the mine was old, the ground was eroding. Because of that, the cart derailed and shot Carson into the air. Carson landed face-first on to a group of boulders.

Mike and Sandra ran as fast as they could to Carson. Sandra had EMT training and found that Carson had a concussion and his face was covered in blood. Mike tried calling for help but didn't have any signal. Sandra said the only way to get help is to go to Migna City. Sandra needed to stay with Carson for help and it was all up to Mike to trek through the cave by himself to go grab help. Mike walked down the dark cave all alone trying to save his friend.
