Ch.5 Tomorrow

”It’s the same story. He’s not sure what to say to make us believe him. What we need is proof. Have the results from the body examination come in yet?” Me and Raine both look at him. “Who’s this?” Raine seems to collect himself before answering. “Oh uh…this is..Cayden, Detective Cayden Cori.” The other man’s face lit up at the mention of my name. “Detective Cayden! What an honor.” I smiled and bowed my head slightly. “What brings you here?” I wanted to bring up what had just happened but would anyone believe us? And I think I’m the only one who heard the voice. What could we say? “Ah, yes, well I came to ask you a few questions.” Hey this may sound crazy but the boy in that room just looked through the mirror right at me, and also, telepathy! Totally believable. “Ask away.” I nodded and got my thoughts together, pulling out a small notebook and pen. I don’t care if it’s weird because it’s useful, also I have the memory of a teenager with ADHD. “With one of the recent cases you worked on with that girl, Lionee Cylis. 11 year old rape victim to Alejandro Sheel. I read in the file you guys handed the case over because you think Alejandro is in a gang? Is that right?” He nodded. “Ok, and, Lionee is currently missing, correct?” He nodded again. “Alright, is anyone keeping tabs on Alejandro?” “We wanted to but since he was checked off as innocent there was no reason besides suspicion.” I almost groaned in frustration. “Do you know the name or really anything about the guy who suddenly claimed himself guilty?” “Not a thing, but he is locked up here, I think…if I pull some strings, I can get a one on one with you and him.” “I would be so grateful.” He nodded for the last time and put his hand up. “My pleasure, I think I can get you in tomorrow, I’m kinda packed right now.” “Tomorrow’s fine, thank you so much.” I shook his hand and noticed a really ugly scar leading from his thumb to his wrist. I turned to my new found partner and nodded to him. He tapped his two fingers on his head and saluted to me, returning to whatever he was doing. He can’t be bothered with who I am. I like him. I exited with new found confidence. I won’t get my hopes up though, I know how this goes. I will find you Lionee. I swear it. I spent the rest of the day in my cubicle putting everything together for tomorrow. I wrote some questions I would otherwise forget. And even sorted through some of the old cases I had added to my computer. Nothing connected yet, and I hope it doesn’t. Because if it does…this is a bigger problem than everyone thinks.

As I drove home on my motorcycle I suddenly realized…I have no food. I drove around until a certain place looked appealing among everything else. It had gotten dark out finally and the restaurant was lit up with bright red, orange and green lights. It looked cozy and safe and it lured people in. They had speakers playing k pop, the waitresses and waiters were on roller skates and in blue and white striped outfits. I’m in Washington right? What is this? It looks fun and intriguing but what was it. A fair? Festival? According to the large sign right in front it was a 24 hour diner with a drive in movie theatre. That’s a new one for me. I parked and took off my helmet. Fixing my hair I approached. Suddenly my phone vibrated in my pocket.
