CXIV. Countdown II

When Marcus had met Alexandra his life had been more complicated than usual and that was a lot in the dragon world. His father, Chief Roy, had lost his position, there was a silent tension directed at him because, on the two occasions that the young man had been alone with Alexandra, something bad had happened for the camp. He was afraid that people would start to think that he had betrayed his own just because a girl with red hair and scorched skin had somehow brainwashed him. Now he was helping Dr. Russman with camp supplies to demonstrate his commitment to survival, no longer willing to go on field missions for risk of running into that strange girl a third time. Luckily for him, Russman was patient and understanding with him, listened to his concerns and thoughts, and had even been such a good confidant that he kept those talks secret from the others.
