The Truth Comes Out

Getting out of bed that morning was eventful since he tripped over Kiri who was at the foot of his bed. "Kiri You know you can sleep on the bed. Let's go check out the bath on the floor below. When I seen the blueprints at the stairs it looked like a large pool." Kiri got up and left with the boy for the bath and when they got there, they saw the goddess put in an auto wash for the pets. So, Kiri ended up using that while Alfred used the shower before relaxing in the bath. The boy used the soap from the store like the fox did in his area and then jumped in the pool sized bath for relaxing. When Kiri was done washing, he got into the pool with Alfred and they both sat in there relaxing until an hour later when they started to feel hungry.

Taking out a portion of food for the both of them they ate and headed out of the tower. Outside Alfred stored the tower and used the maps function to lead him to the village. Once he got to the gates of the village with Kiri they were stopped by the guards "Halt. Is the fox your companion small boy or do you wish harm to us?" The guard asked defensively. in Alfred's small voice he told them that 'kiri was his and his name was Alfred and that he meant no harm that he had herbs and potions to sell to the village for either coins or room and board for a night in the village inn. He wanted to shop for food and leave to the closest city.'

The guard still defensive showed Kiri and Alfred an Orb "one at a time place your palm and hand on this orb and it will show lie from truth". Alfred went first and it showed a white light showing a pure soul free from the killing of an innocent. Kiri turned the same and the village leader was called over. Both the chief and his father who was the elder came to the gate to ask Alfred a few questions. The elder who wanted to know why a small child was in the woods alone without his parents asked the fox why he was with the kid. "my parents passed away in the winter 3 year ago and the fox found me almost one and cold sitting under my mothers' body. I contracted this fox's soul to mine at 2 when I learned to speak with hm. And since then, I have been living on my own in the forest. I wanted to see how kids lived but I want to be an adventurer. My Fox Kiri is a really strong fox> he can kill a wyvern in a single hit. Please can I sell you a mid-grade potion for room, board and food for today and the food for tomorrow morning?" Alfred was polite and sincere even though that bit was a lie to give him a back ground. The elder took the potion and agreed. Leading the pair to the blacksmith first while telling Alfred "the Fox will need a collar for traveling through the city. Any city you go to will want to see proof. When you register to the guild you will get a tag for both you and him. The guards can use magic to prove the bond but only a few. The ones who cannot will use the tag, which is magically linked to your card." Arriving at the workshop for the blacksmith the elder asked the owner "hey, George, can you make a fox collar for the boys companion." Alfred remembered the ore he found and pulled it out for the George. "hi George. I'm Alfred can you use this ore to make the collar?" the man looked at the ore flabbergasted. Then while sneaking peaks at Alfred said, "this is monster ore. It is a drop item from a monster with a magic horn. The drop rate of this is ultra-rare. There is enough to make a few collars. But only just."

Alfred looked at the man in earnest. "if there is enough for 5 then after the fourth collar you can keep the leftover as my payment to you. If you make the collar and sell it then you would make a good chunk of profit and be able to help your business and the village." The man who was named George looked at the little boy that the village elder and chief brought to him in awe. Someone not in it for the profit and who cared about the people was alright by him. "boy. Ill help you craft anything you like within my means. You have shown me the potential you have in life. You can board with my wife and I; we don't have no kids yet. So, the extra room is for guest anyhow. When you're all done have one o these guys here bring you back." George looked at the elder and chief with a look that said bring him back please. Alfred caught on to the stares but kept silent. But the Village chief already seen the look that showed Alfred's intelligence for something higher than four-year-old boys should be. "I'm going to take the boy to the store pops, I'll be showin him round. So, go take a rest since the doc will yell at you again if you don't" to the boy "come on boy lets go". Alfred didn't hear any hostility from the chief so he followed along after a short pause. To the craftsman named George, he answered, "ill see you later uncle George."

On the was to the store there were few people. The chief took that time to get some info from the boy "So, Boy, do you know where you come from?" Alfred shook his head no. "what about your age?" Alfred said "4." The chief looked a bit startled for just a second. "did you know you are acting like a boy of about 15 right now. That's an adult in this world." Alfred started to look apprehensive.

On the inside he was over 80 years old but his appearance was still that of a child. 'I should probably just tell him the truth. "I have a skill boy. I can check for truth on my own with out the need for the crystal ball. So, I think that the truth would help me trust you."

"with out giving out all the information I have since its probably not safe for others to know it all, I was in my 80s in my last life when I died trying to save a mother and child from a horseless carriage. I died but before that saw the child alive and well. I was pulled to this world by the current governing goddess to help the world progress with my knowledge. And because of that I needed to know how kids lived. I am a dragon vampire beast tri breed. And have a fox as a soul companion. I won't tell you my direct skills because I need to save myself in any situation. But I can promise I don't wish harm on anyone here as of yet." Now that Alfred knew the skill, he had his active. Seeing no change even though he knew it was already truth. Village Chief saw no false telling from the boy so took what he said as the absolute truth. "I'll tell you know boy, what you said is hard to believe without the skill. Is there a way to prove to me you're not just making up a wild story you convinced yourself to believe making the truth-seeking skill believe ypu?"

There is a way but rather you believe me with it, I am still uncertain". Alfred pulled his transforming phone out and told him "this technology is a wish based off of the modern tech from my world that I died in. it also has a map and maps wherever I have been. If I've not been there then its only searchable by name. so, I've pulled up your village and set a pin but when I try to find a city from here it only shows me the name, I can't zoom into the location." The man was surprised when the phone was pulled out of the boys Vault, since only the ones with their own Vault would be able to tell the difference.

The man believed after that. "dear boy I believe you now. As a test of your sincerity I asked for proof, please forgive me." The Chief whose name Alfred still didn't know had bowed in apology to the boy. Alfred started to flail slightly worrying himself as the man wouldn't stand. "please stand up. There's nothing to forgive. If I was in your same place, I fear I would be no better then that either. So please don't bow to me again." The man looked to Alfred in slight admiration. "let's continue to the shop. It would be better if we were not late to get there. I had a villager let the owner know ahead of time." The look Alfred gets the man was as if Curiosity had never crossed the cat badly. "Give me a minute to tell Kiri to grab a few Boar. I want to help for the hunt later tonight, and …. The villagers look hungry." Alfred's comment was right but just how right he didn't yet know. 'Kiri please catch enough board or rabbit to feed the villagers there's maybe 60 of the adults and around 30 more children. And for ourselves. And a few of the edible plants too. Maybe I could have you find the potatoes. I saw a patch a few hundred feet from the gate." "got it. I saw the patch you're talking about on the way in. ill grab some for planting too." "thanks Kiri. You are a big help to me" Alfred's focus wavered while talking to Kiri and it didn't go unnoticed by the Chief. "Alfred that is a dangerous skill. A soul link between the contracted beast is not only rare but something only the beast tamers who practice for 50 years can achieve. If you are near a person you don't know, please be careful. You will either be recruited or in danger if a bad person sees you." Alfred nodded his head that he understood and off they went to the store.
