Chapter 44: Wintry Retreat

As the snowstorm came to slow a little, Darryl took out some off the sparklers and let me play with them for awhile as he scooped some snow into a bucket. I handed him some unlit ones, inciting him to join as well as Darryl sighs and complied.

"If yours dies out first... Grant me a wish." I said, staring at the lit sparklers in our hands.

"Heh. And what if yours does?" Darryl smirks as I flinched, apparently I didn't think I would lose, hence not even thinking of the possibility of that outcome.

"T-then unfortunately... I'll do the same for you." I rubbed my nape out of embarrassment as Darryl raised an eyebrow.

"Even if it was money matters?" He asked with a snarky attitude, hinting at my last remark that he was wealthy and shouldn't compare himself to me.
