Chapter 61

Mom's eyes widen and her hands moved to cover her mouth. "Oh dear God." She replied. She shifted her gaze from me and looked at Dad, then back at me. Her eyes were filling with tears. "Why didn't you tell us?"

I shook my head. "She didn't want anyone to know."

Dad looked at Mom as he spoke. "If I had known that he was doing that, I wouldn't have asked her to leave." His voice sounded hard and it was also filled with regrets.

I didn't have time to have a discussion with them right now. Time was going and every minute Kayla spends with that man, was a squeeze to my heart. If he lays a hand on her, I'm going to kill him.

I turned to Mom again. "I have to go. Call the police and send them to his house!"

It was the fastest I've ever driven in my entire life. Breaking ever speed limit, I was at Kayla's house in five minutes. I pulled the car to a halt, cut the engine and sprinted to the front door. Without hesitation, I burst the door open and it hit the wall with a bang.
