As we reach the shore of the island, about seventy-thousand square miles give or take and roughly two-hundred miles from Japan, we were greeted by four men in their mid twenties. They gave us grimoires; which was interesting mainly due to the fact of what they named it. Afterward, they lead us to the campgrounds where we found old, broken-down cabins. There were sixty-one students in total, all in different grades, and from what I can tell there are 26 girls and 35 guys including myself. We were all instructed to open our grimoires.
Rule 1 Form groups of three and live with your team in your respective cabin.
Rule 2 More rules will be added as the time goes on so keep looking.
After reading these rules people started getting into groups of three. In about an hour I was the only person without a group.
"I thought as much would happen due to the fact that there can only be twenty groups."
My friends were on the other side of the crowd so they grouped up immediately. Their names are Taga Nagasu, Ryna Yuuki, Tongetsu Yuuki. My name is Shikuno-shi Azigato, we all lived in the same small town about forty-three miles from the closest city and sixty-eight miles from the ocean.
During the summer we would go to the beach for a week and stay at one of the hotels there. About two years ago, I moved down by the ocean because my father extended the family business there. For the first month I didn't really talk to my friends or anyone for that matter, but after I got used to my new life I started talking to my friends. During the long breaks, they would come down and visit for a few days. A few months ago when they were down here visiting, we were walking around on the beach this stranger (who was wearing a black suit) walked up to us and asked,
"I have a proposition for you kids if you are interested."
My first thought was this guy can't be serious because who wears a suit to the beach but we decided to listen to what he had to say. Later that night mine and my friends' parents appeared in our room at the hotel. By the tension in the room, I could tell that something big has come up. It took about an hour and a half for them to explain it all to us. It ended up that the guy at the beach had contacted our families and offered more money than we see in a year. That is how we got into this situation. The only reason why I was on the other side of the crowd was just because of where I lived. They chose thirteen of us from the town that I live in now. There are eight guys and five girls. And by the looks of them, they are all friends, some looking like more than friends.
After everyone finishes making groups we started to head inland to find the campsite. When we got there it seemed to be little more than a few broken-down cabins. That doesn't stop anyone from choosing which cabins they want. My cabin is up a run-down path on top of the hill hidden behind the trees. It is excluded from all the other cabins, but it appears to have the least amount of damage. Everyone started to get comfortable in their cabins when the instructors inform us that we will be fed for the first three days before they make us forage food for ourselves. As you could have guessed this put the whole camp on edge for a moment. By the time the sun started to skim the horizon the food is all set on a big table in the center of the campsite. I was surprised to see that dinner this night would be curry mainly due to the fact that I haven't come across any usable stoves or fires.
After everyone finishes up it's still about seven-ish and the sun is still visible so I start looking around the surrounding area to see where I should go tomorrow. I find nothing so I decide to go down near the beach to wash myself off for the evening. When I finish washing up I found some boot prints that are not identical to any on the island that I've seen so far. After about thirty minutes of following the print, I come to a dead end so I turn back and I don't give it a second thought of who's boot prints those were.
I get back up to the cabins, I start looking around to see if there were any other paths leading off to the woods but there were only the one around the camp. I start heading up to my cabin to see if there are any paths up there but I didn't see anything but that what I kinda figured. I go into my cabin to clean up a little and get ready to fall asleep before the sun sets over the horizon.
As I enter the cabin it looked like a tornado went through it by how whittled down the wood looked. As of what I could tell it was built over a hundred years ago. You could clearly tell that something has come here and destroyed the cabin whether. I start looking around to see if I could find anything on the ground but there was nothing. By the holes in the wall, it looks like someone was using a sword like object and something else that I can't quite tell.
I was honestly surprised how big the cabin is but it's also meant to hold three people. It also had a very nice layout to it, when you enter the cabin you are in the hallway and a living room off to the right and a kitchen following that. Down the hallway, there are four doors all on the left three of them are bedrooms and then a bathroom. After I finish looking around the cabin I head to one of the bedrooms to head to bed.
When I woke up I head out to get fresh air and when I looked over the camp I say everyone heading down the beach or at less in that direction. I hear Rynas voice down bellow so I start looking around for her. I found her over by her cabin with Taga and Tongetsu. She held up to me
"Do you want to head down to the beach with us"
I stand there for a sec to thing
" No, I kinda want to check the surrounding areas to see what all is around ok I might come down in a little if I get bored."
I have lost interest in going to the beach because I have been visiting a beach almost every day for the past two years. Plus I could always go with them tomorrow if I don't find anything of interest. There is one more place that I wanted to check out before night fell. As I started to head back behind the cabin I hear a faint sound that came from a spot near the back of the cabin. When I arrived I couldn't find what had made the noise. When I turned back I saw a shadow that shimmered liked it wasn't even truly there. After a second or two the shadow disappears in thin air and I can't find any evidence that it was even there. I did notice, however, that there was a trail where the shadow seemed to be standing in front of as if it was trying to point me in that direction. I decided to wait till tomorrow to find out where that path leads.
The path seemed to end in a small valley. From what I could tell it had a small river going through it and a few black oaks here and there rapping around the corner of the valley little ways out. It had dark green grass and a few tree roots coming out of the side of the valley. The valley contains some cows, sheep, and pigs scattered around the place. I just look and admire it for a few seconds and think that I should go and get Taga, Tongetsu, and Ryna.
As I think of heading back I see something hidden in the cliff side behind one of the roots coming out of the valley walls. It looks like an old ancient door that's been here for hundreds or even thousands of years by the looks of it. I start heading over toward the door to check it out but the only way over to it is head down into the valley and see if there's a path to follow up to it. It was also an excuse for me to see what type of food there was down there for after the three days were up when the instructors stopped serving us food.
When I get down there I only see one way to get up to it and that's by climbing up the side of the valley and I'm not about to do that. So I just start wandering around to see how the rest of it looked around the corner. As I look around the corner I see this big cherry blossom tree. As beautiful as it was it was quite strange that it was the only one here. There was no sign that there was another one when I was walking here. The only ones I saw was a mix of black oak, oak, and pine. It also doesn't look like there are any in the upper part of the valley. It is like it was put there by someone a long time ago. But that would have had to be hundreds of years ago kind like the door over there. As I'm taking in the information around me I sit down in front of the cherry blossom tree. After a while, I slowly start dozing off and eventually fall asleep.
I awoke in this dimly lit forest surrounded by shadows. Who knows what these things are or where they came from but they don't feel like they have an intent on harming me. They were like observers that watch from afar but never got closer. I start looking around my surroundings and head were I think it's South-west (which is where we arrived a day ago) to try to find the camp. As I walk things start getting darker and a bit more dense with each step I take. It feels like the trees are starting to reap around me, holding me back, trying to tell me to stop. But I choose to continue down the straight and narrow path that lies before me.
After a while, I saw an opening off in the distance and thought it was a dim red light, you could see it as plain as day. As I got closer to the opening I hear screams from a little girl. It's too far away to tell away which direction it was coming from. So I continue to the opening, struggling through the broken branches and weeds. As I approach the opening I see something on the cliff side... something disturbing. Rivers of blood were pouring out from the cliffside like that of a river careening down a mountain slope. As I get closer to the wall something jumps out of the blood. I collapse to the ground unable to move or even speak. As I look up I see this old man with long gray hair and covered in blood. And he is just standing there, it seems to me that he was real, unlike the blood that covered the man. As I got a better look at him I saw that he had the eyes of a dragon. His beard and hair were the purest silver, even whilst being covered in blood. He started to say something in a deep voice but the words didn't make sense.
"You must look for the scattered pieces on the island. There is much to be told about the areas you will encounter. You've already seen a piece of the puzzle now you just need to figure out how to break the code behind it. Don't back down from what is right, keep your head on your shoulders and you might just find the hidden chamber. Only then you will find the truth behind the island, only then you'll know what to do. I hope you make the right choice on the side you will help only you can stop the war in the world, the war that humanity has forgotten."
After he was done with his speech he slowly turned to dust and was blown away with the wind of to the night sky. As he left the shadows following me vanished into thin air without a trace. The sky returned to its blue color and the blood turns to water. But there was no mistake that it was blood. Not even a magic trick could change that as it did.
I woke up in shock but I can't remember what I was dreaming about. I sit and think about it for a second but I still couldn't remember. All a sudden the sun's light catches my eyes and blind me for a sec. I look up to see what time it is. The sun was starting to set off in the horizon. I quickly get up and start rushing back to the camp knowing I'm going to get my ass chewed out by my friends. As I'm rushing to the camp I start tripping over vines and roots as I'm trying to keep my balance. I hear some type of anonymous sound out in the distance but I couldn't tell what it was, nor did I want to find out so I just kept heading to the camp. Not in as much of a hurry because I don't want to trip even more than I already have.
When I got back Ryna, Tongetsu, and Taga got up and came over to where I was and asked where I have been for so long. They say that they were been waiting for hours now. They were contemplating whether they should go out looking for me if I didn't return by morning. For as long as I knew Ryna she has always had a crush on me but as of almost six months ago she and Taga have been dating. Tongetsu told me that Ryna liked me years ago but I never did anything about it. I figured that if she truly wanted to date me then she could ask me out herself. When I heard the news I was relieved to know that she and Taga were dating because that means that she had to stop obsessing over me like when we were kids. At least now I don't have any guilt for neglecting to bring it up with her. But I'm pretty sure that she knew one way neither the other that I found out she liked me, but since I discarded it she must have given up. Then Taga asked her out so she said yes right away. At least that what I heard from Tongetsu. Taga and Ryna don't really act like a couple out in public or around us so Tongetsu could have just been pulling my leg, but they do seem to be closer than they were back when all of us were kids.
Back then we were carefree kids like every other child in our town, but we were different somehow. All the kids wanted to bully Ryna, Tongetsu and Taga they would kick them and make them feel bad. I was that one kid that no one really saw and I've gained the respect of most the students and teachers and one day I saw them being bullied and I walked over and told the kids to stop bullying them. After that day they stopped bullying them and Ryna, Tongetsu and Taga kept coming over to me to hang out because I was always by myself and over time I let them in and we started to hangout out of school either at my house or at Ryna and Tongetsu's house. We all got into this MMORPG game on the computer and we all played it till it closed its servers a few years ago and ever since then we never got into a game that we played together.
I was well known out through the school. I was smart and parsley athletic. Everyone knew that my father was a fighter in some major leagues around the country. This, of course, caused me problems in middle school kids want to prove themselves by fighting me to show how strong they were. I thought that it was a very stupid reason to fight someone just because of the family. That the reason why my dad stopped fighting so I didn't get bullied anymore and after a while, the kids stopped fighting me but started making fun of my dad saying that he couldn't make it in the big leagues or my dad could pummel yours because of him quitting. After a few years of that, we moved away. Now he sits at a computer all day coming up with ideas for books to send in for the company to inspect it and see if it passes to be published later. He likes making books before and when he was fighting he made book on the off time and now he's able to do it full time so he doesn't hate his life now but I think he liked it when he was able to fight but he was looking after me so I can't feel bad about it because he's already made up his mind and I can't change it. If he really didn't want to quit fighting he would have had me train with him but he wanted me to live my own life and not follow under his so he made that sacrifice.
Tongetsu slaps to get me to my senses and back to reality. We go and sit down by the bonfire to have our dinner for the night. Were having Vietnamese Beef Noodle Soup for dinner. I tell Taga and Tongetsu that I was heading down to the beach to clean up and I would be back in a few. After that, I head down to the beach to clean up. I hop over the rocks to get to the other side so I have some privacy. I sit down in the cold water relaxed and comfortable, I sit there for about seven min and I hear a little girl off in the distance crying. I start remembering the dream I had over by the cherry blossom tree. I rush to get up and then I hear this faint deep voice, not like the one in my dreams. Then he said.
"Stay Away"
