No One Will Have To Know

Venethan didn't get many chances to be alone with Azariel in the months leading up to the joint wedding and coronation. But after a certain point he knew she had informed Ianor of her decision because he seemed absolutely devastated.

Not in an obvious way. Azariel, bright as she was, was dense as a brick wall when it came to things like this.

To his credit, he was very good at hiding it. His expression remained the same no matter what situation he was in and he refused to leave the palace though he knew she must have offered.

That lovesick fool was determined to stay by her side to the end without any status. He would never let his heartbreak show in front of her but every so often Venethan saw a flash of something in his eyes that hinted at his true feelings.

That was about as emotional as Ianor got. If Azariel was as dense as a brick wall, he was as immovable as one.
