A Fairy That Didn't Die

Azariel wrapped her arms around Venethan's neck from behind and kissed his neck. "Ven. You will destroy the demons for me, won't you?"

He shuddered at the contact, unsure whether or not it was real. "How?"

"I'm sure you'll figure it out. You're the magic expert. You have forever, don't you? Forever, just you and me, the last of the fairies."

"I don't want to be the last!"

"Then fix it. Anything is fixable with enough time. But you do need more time and you have people after you. Don't let them do anything to make you mortal, Ven. Kill them all if you have to so you can bring the fairies back. You owe me."

Of course Venethan wanted to bring the fairies back and would do anything to make it happen! But how?

"They can't make me mortal," he said confidently.

"Are you sure about that? If demon magic can make you immortal, it can take it away," Azariel said contemptuously. "Don't let that happen. Avenge us."
