The Very Air He Breathed

Dietrian shouldn't have been as shocked as he was that Riley wanted to celebrate his birthday. But it hadn't even occurred to him to tell her when it was because no one had ever celebrated it before.

She said he was glad he was born. No one had EVER been glad he was born. Not even him.

His very existence caused problems for people. His magic had killed his mother and it was all downhill from there until he met Riley. She didn't know about his magic though. And she never could.

He couldn't afford to lose this. He absolutely could not lose her love when she was the only one who had ever wanted him to be alive.

Dietrian hadn't cried like this in years because no one had ever cared. He held back his tears because he had to. But the dam broke this time, made worse by the fact that she was holding him. Why couldn't he get a hold of himself?!
