A Mother's Intuition

Dallin knew Hailey wasn't the most comfortable with questions. He had tried warning his parents about that but there was no stopping his mom. She began a full-blown interrogation the moment they got in the car.

His girlfriend was obviously uncomfortable but seemed a bit better once she was able to eat. He could only hope that was enough and that his parents wouldn't scare her off by being too friendly. She had been taken aback by his mom's hug; he had seen it.

He wouldn't be able to bear it if that happened. Hailey had been worried if they would like her but that wasn't the problem here. It was that they would like her too much and be more than she could take.

They had been worried he wouldn't be able to find someone to spend his life with for years because he hadn't really had friends growing up. Just classmates.
