They Weren't Unlucky

Delia didn't know what she was supposed to make of this new development. She had thought Simon was an ordinary office worker until then. Weren't secretaries for higherups only?

He didn't look old enough for that. If she had to guess, he was around her age. Maybe even younger. He could be anywhere from eighteen to twenty-five. It would have made more sense for him to be a young professional barely starting out like her.

"Sorry about that," Simon apologized.

"No worries. I'll see you at the restaurant, okay?" Delia reassured him.

They walked out to the parking lot and went their separate ways. She didn't get the chance to ask him where he worked until they were seated and their drink orders had been taken.

"So…where do you work exactly?"

Simon grimaced slightly. "So you heard that earlier."

"It would have been hard not to," she said with a penitent expression.
