"How many types of Spirit Beast are there inside of the Great Forest?"
"Too many, if you want I can give you a book if you want." Xiao Wu said.

She then walk to Xin and asked for the book.

Name: Crimson-Scaled Salmon

Description: The Ocean is a place of great spirit beasts many of which are undocumented, however amongst the ones know to us, the Crimson-Scaled Salmon is one of the most commonly known.
A rather common oceanic fish that migrates to the rivers it spawned from once a century to breed. It has a high amount of vitality, and possesses a ferocious temperament, amplified during mating season. It is known to grant spirit masters a constitution or vitality enhancement effect.
Those that managed to go past 10,000 years can choose to give in to the urge, or 'edge' themselves for another century. The longer they 'edge' themselves, the more ferocious and foul-tempered they get. Such specimens would have a "pumped up" look, possessing a deeper, more rich shade of red. Beware, for these spirit beasts are highly pent up, and significantly more aggressive than the rest of their already aggressive kind.
The deeper, more rich shade of red, the more pent up they are. The more pent up they are, the more formidable their physical ability. It is advised that a spirit master with either ice, lightning, or control type spirits to either freeze, paralyze, or subdue it without too much hassle. Alternatively, a defense spirit master with a sufficiently strong constitution can hold it down long enough to be killed.
Of course, a raptor spirit is also capable of dealing with the younger variants of the spirit beasts via spiritual suppression, particularly if the power difference is high enough.
It is a good thing that this particular species of spirit beast is considered a prey species for many other spirit beasts, both in sea and in land, otherwise the world would be flooded with an army of the Crimson-Scaled Salmon.

Name: Soulgazing Phantasm Deer
Type: Deer
Specialization: Mental, Control, Support
Description: A large deer with light blue fur and big forked horns- the larger and more forks, the older. One can generally determine its age through the following: those of decades old are less than a meter tall; those centuries old grow one meter taller and half a meter longer per century, capping at the thousand years range. Those at the millennial tier start to grow their horns at one meter per century, gaining their first fork at their second millennium. Around five thousand years old, their eyes will start to gleam with the barest trace of intelligence. Around the ten thousand years old range, light blue mist will start to form around their body, their fur start to deepen in color, and strange, swirling white patterns start manifesting on their horns. One has less information of their traits at that age, for they will have a following of powerful spirit beasts- some even at the 50,000+ years old range.
The Soulgazing Phantasm Deer is considered to be one of the stronger spirit beasts, at least among the Deer-classified ones. Not in terms of combat, but in terms of support and control abilities; most of them involve targeting the mind. Among those lucky spirit masters who possess spirit rings of the thousand year range I have interviewed, most of them agreed on one thing the spirit beast is capable of- Perception. Even among the younger specimens, the Soulgazing Phantasm Deer is capable of perceiving danger, as well as those of the immaterial. The older ones- of the 5,000 years range and above, were capable of using their own formidable mental power to disrupt illusions, spirit abilities, as well as launching their own mental assaults at spirit masters.
This one can only advise those who wish to hunt down such mentally formidable beasts should take more precaution than usual. For the hundred-years grade, you will have to deal with its parents as well, most of them being well above 3,000 years old. For the thousand-years grade, so long as they're not 5,000 years old and above, take care to not let them lead you on a merry chase around the forest. They are wily beasts, and will lead you to more… dangerous areas in the forest.
One has heard rumors, ostensibly from the lone survivor of one such disastrous hunt, that ended up with the rest of their hunting team being food for a 30,000+ years old Man-Faced Demon Spider Emperor. The veracity of these claims cannot truly be verified, but best regarded as real, just in case.
Possible Abilities: Mind-affecting abilities, Enhanced Perception, Empowerment of Mental-type spirit abilities
Ages: 500+ years old to 10,000+ years old. One would extrapolate that there will be Soulgazing Phantasm Deers of the 100,000+ years old range, but alas, such claims cannot be verified.
